DQ’s updated R0 team (assuming no chain link fences or pub wrestles ensue before then):

B: Cunningham Melican Roberts
HB: Mills McCartin Blakey
C: Gulden Rowbottom Chad Warner
HF: Hayward McDonald Heeney
F: Papley Armatey Adams
R: Grundy Campbell Sheldrick
I: McInerney Florent Lloyd Cleary
Sub: Corey Warner

I’ve decided it’s time to move on from McLean, Fox, Wicks and even Sir Dane 😔

Armatey hangs on purely because I don’t want to see McCartin forward, nor is Ladhams the answer, or Buller at this stage.

Mills returns to the half-back line.

Sheldrick and Cleary to add grunt to the mids & improve our clearance work. Gulden to be allowed nowhere near centre bounces.

Adams into the forward line, where he plays his best footy. If he doesn’t like it - welcome to the VFL son.

I felt uncomfortable leaving Jordon out - but I’ve assumed Cox won’t deploy a tagger. And I’m yet to be convinced JJ warrants a spot unless we want a run-with player.

Perhaps most controversially - Campbell to the mids. He’s tough, a superb kick & has served his apprenticeship. Give him a chance to prove he can replicate the form of the semi-final.
Happy to move on from Mclean (gives 100%, but...), Fox IMO has always been excellent depth (on and off the field - good clubman), Wicks, Rampe (would love a situation where he becomes a leader in the VFL - Snell, Edwards and the new draftees)
Im a fan of Mills in the mids (where he was AA), but agree if the defence needs him, he can play a bloody good role.
Gus and Cleary should get a spot
Adams might be gone to the VFL and be a very solid depth inside mid - dont like him at forward as much as Cleary, Heeney/Warner, Detolli
Re Jordon.. Horse used a tagger more than anyone, and to good effect, but at what cost? Looking forward to less tagging and more playing
Big fan of Campbell.. one thing I'm confident of is he'll play higher up the ground than previously. High HF, wing, Inside.. Hes got skills to burn, hoping the physical and mental development has caught up.

How many games did Parker play there ! does Campbell have photos of you
Parker was occupying a spot in our 22, mostly up forward. If he's out of the team, someone else needs to play up forward.

No photos, I'm just advocating that a player should be tried in their actual position, instead of dismissing them based on playing them as 2nd or 3rd string in other positions. Surely someone as involved in footy as yourself should understand this basic idea.

Just never rated him , he reminds me of a Jaryd Sundquist

Well the club rated him enough to match a bid at Pick 5.

Then bizzarely they've played him in pretty much every "small" position except for the ones that made him so highly rated.

Critics fail to remember or notice this, which is frustrating.

I'm not sure using bounces is a good stat, given Warner does it immediately after taking 2 steps, which gets him into trouble.

Using R50s in comparison to Rowy is fairly odd, given you'd expect both of them there at D50 stoppages (not necessarily to do with chasing back), and Warner to rebound more from the outside.

Richards attended 260 centre bounces to Warner's 452, with his peak attendance in the middle part of the season.

So there's plenty of opportunity to play Warner more off HF or coming off a wing, still use him in the middle some of the time, while improving our contested work with others.

The grand final, along with many other games, showed that Warner doesn't necessarily turn up until 2nd halves. So maybe he needs to learn a lesson.
I get so annoyed when he does that. It slows him down for a millisecond and that's the difference between getting caught or not.

Blakey is the forward we’ve been looking for. Tall, lightning fast, great mark, great lead, can apply i50 pressure, booming accurate kick.

Put him there and we get the added bonus of zero goal leaking clangers.

Yes yes half back run, but if sides don’t give you the turnover game, he will be wasted anyway.

Who does he replace ? Take your pick, he’d be way better than any of the 3 talls.

Warner brings nothing to the midfield mix. He has no impact in a midfield sense
Im sorry but this is one of the worst/dumbest/incorrect statements I've read on Big Footy.... and thats saying something

He was All Australian, his stats up pretty bloody good, two teams over west will be offering truckloads of cash to trade him in as a midfielder
Its not hard to see

He is not and has been tried , he won't be moved , all he needs is a bit of guts when needed

Welcome to the off season after winning more games than any other club, but losing the Granny.

Ive read so many comments that Blakey, Warner, Gulden are basically crap. Last year it was Heeney who was the most overpaid player and should be traded.

Just to jog peoples selective memories..
Heeney, Gulden, Blakey and Warner were all All Australians

ps. Not sure when the last time 4 Swans made the AA team?

An expensive VFL player
Hes probably not on big coin? He signed a three(?) year deal and I dont think there was much competition. Like Amartey, prob on bugger all.
I got the impression that both signed 3ish year deals to make sure we've at least got some competitive talls, if deals for JUH, Naughton etc fall through (which happened)

He would be a good depth player playing VFL unless needed

AA yes, but resembled Neafl players when it mattered most. Criticism is warranted. Aside from Heeney, the other 3 need to HTFU.
