6-16 (hopefully with no floggings)

Be a great effort to equal or beat last years 8 wins but that would require minimum 2 wins away and that aint gonna happen.

Happy to get one wrong, hope I get a few wrong in the next few weeks....

I have no idea about the StKilda game now... I really think we can beat them but they still have some very dangerous players and will be hungry to bounce back and prove everyone wrong that they can win without Riewoldt.

I'll take a rose coloured glasses stab at it and hope we can pick up a few more... I reckon the following is maybe possible...

Rd9: St Kilda (home) - WIN
Rd10: Carlton (away) - LOSS
Rd11: Geelong (home) - LOSS
Rd12: Richmond (away) - WIN
Rd13: Bulldogs (home) - WIN
Rd14: Collingwood (away) - LOSS
Rd15: Adelaide (home) - WIN
Rd16: Essendon (away) - LOSS

Rd18: Fremantle (away) - WIN
Rd19: Brisbane (home) - WIN
Rd20: Port (away) - LOSS
Rd21: North (home) - WIN
Rd22: Geelong (away) - LOSS

Thatd be 11 wins, and hopefully scraping into the finals just... Essendon away would be tough but winable, so if we drop one of the others I'll be hoping we pick that game up in its place

Don't really care where we end up this year.

Priority is to get games into next generation of players (Ebert, Shuey, Stevens, Sheppard, Naitanui, S. Selwood, Mcginnity, Schofield, Brown, Mckenzie, Houlihan, Stephenson, Hams should all get nods first)

The seniors to be selected from performance based.

I'll rather finish 14th this year and get games into our young players than finish 9-10th with the likes of lynch, hansen, nicoski, rosa, a. selwood, jones in the team

Spot on mate. I dont want us to make up the numbers this year, I want us to be serious contenders in the next couple.

Something i thought i'd point out which i find funny.

Over the course of the year we've been playing the second youngest team and the second least experienced.

Now melbourne are playing and older, more experienced team and have 3 wins and its seen as a huge achievement and they have had a great year so far. All the while having had 7 games at the mcg and 1 at etihad.

We have won 3 games yet our season has been off the rails and we've only had 4 home games yet had to travel to sydney, brisbane and melbourne twice. I guess we must just call that having a winning culture.

For me the big loss was the Port game - with so much game dominance - to not get the dominance on the scoreboard was disapointing.

At 4-4 we would be mid pack, exactly where most of us hoped we'd be on a path to improvement.

The only other loss that was super disappointing was the Sydney loss - as we never really gave a yelp.

I always thought we'd finish 8-12 - to make the finals we'd need the stars to align.

However 10 wins and being competitive in most games would be about par i would have thought.

Yeah, that's what I said. ;)

A month is a very long time in football.

Lawl.

Yeah, but if you think about it it's not that we've improved it's just that those two particular opponents got weaker. So from that perspective I'm not THAT excited.

I'm actually going to tip us this week though, for some reason.

I really cant believe half the experts in Inside Football tipped us this week, even though it is a home game the Saints are still a bloody good team and would be hard to beat you'd think.

I had a quick look at our average points for and against for 2008, 09 and this year so far. We had a marked improvement between 2008 and 2009 but this year we are on par with last year. 2 more points against per game and I think it was 3-4 less points for.

The Demons in comparison went from 118.3 points against in 2008, 103.9 in 2009 and 81.6 points against in 2010.

Basically they have improved from the midfield to the backline whilst we have stagnated. I dont think there team has had as much upheval as we have with players coming and going so there probably more settled.

I wouldnt say that we have gone backwards though considering we are still getting much needed games into the kids and whittling away the guys who aernt going to take us further.

Didn't realise Ebert had played 41 games, more than I expected. I don't reckon he deserves the "young and developing" excuse much longer.

3rd worst team in the comp. About the same for the last three years. Can't believe we have gone backwards again from last year. How much longer can we stand this?

Have we gone backwards from 2008? The year after we lost Judd, Cousins and had horror injuries. We would have made the eight that year, we have fallen of the ball and this year could be our lowest point.

As long as it takes I'm thinking. Not alot we can really do about it.

Fans would be alot more understanding if Worsfold was playing kids and setting up for the future.

EG. No more Priddis and Selwood 80mins on the ball...
Rotate players much more through the midfield like say Collingwood.
Keep some pace in the forward line (even if it's just Nicoski) it's better than Ebert with his Gardiner like speed.

Essentially nothing has changed since 08. He keeps playing a supposed best 22. Schoefield, Sheppard, Stevenson, Houlihan, Swift only got games through injury... that's rubbish.

Obviously Worsfold will only act once finals are out of the question, same as last year. Poor approach.

seasons projection? -
more of the same of course..
ups+downs..ins+outs..injured back in..new injuries to occur..win a game here..lose 2 games there..blood new players..watch old ones fall away..maybe see a new star or two in the making..
and not expecting anything else to happen..better get use to it..until next year.
its all about gametime(into the younger key structure players-the backbone),and thats what this season is for..anything else is pretty much irrelevant at this stage..
finals? hehe..a pleasant afterthought..an accidental experience to be enjoyed and take into next year.

big changes next year.???? :thumbsu:

i think we'll just miss the eight. i've had faith in woosha's development when he was under the pump. i think the players are acutally starting to adjust to the gameplan, which is why we have been playing better then usual over the past couple of weeks...we managed to get 3 goals up in the third term against a potential premiership side this year, we aren't as bad as everyone thinks

people need to have a bit more positivity around here! expect us to start kicking ass again (like in 2009) at the end of the season for a much better 2011. also im tipping us to beat carlton this week :thumbsu:

We have been regularly playing a young and inexperienced side this year. Only Richmond has had a less experienced team playing generally.
Melbourne? North?
We did start the season with our most experienced players (bar Hansen)...with the same general set-up. Didn't really work last year, nor the start of this year.

Cox, Selwood, Priddis, Jones, Nicoski, Kerr, Waters, Butler, Glass, Embley, Rosa, Lynch, Hansen, Mckinley, Hurn... 15 players who arent going to show much more than they already have tbh. Not a bad group if you add a few superstars but now is just keeping us stale.
