I am confident if we bring our A game we can beat any other finals side. However, the same could be said for $ydney, Freo, Cats and maybe Port. I don't give North, Essendon or Richmond much show.

We have beaten those sides on the G, and we can again.

IMO our defense will be at its best for the season. Gibbo showed he has regained the form that won hin the B & F, and Stratts is also getting back to his best. Hope to see a lift in Bruest's form. Wonder if Scott will tag Langers after he tore them apart.

I'll politely agree to disagree. Had Geelong not won that 2011 QF we more than likely would not have gone on to become Premiers that year because of the increased path difficulty to get there, i.e. an extra high intensity SF plus a better quality PF opponent. I don't know about 'revenge' but this is as important as any other final (besides the GF of course) to Geelong supporters because of how pivotal it is for Premiership success. :footy:
Geelong only went on to win that flag because roughed and not Hawkins did his achillies. An injury to a key player is basically a game changer amongst top 4 sides, the Swines couldn't even beat Richmond when Franklin pulled out. It's all about getting close to your best side on the park at the right time and if you have injuries prey they are only fringe players, that's why the loss of rioli may eventually stop the hawks, just as selwood going down would probably mean Geelong are stuffed. To win the flag so many things have to go right and having all your guns up and about is number 1.

Hawkins kicked 1 goal in the Prelim.

2 weeks ago was his biggest bag on Lake (3 goals).

And 2 of them were cheapy over the tops running into the square. Still goals and you still have to kick them, but they weren't strictly goals from outpointing Lake in the manner we have so often seen him do with Cheney and Schoenmakers.

I feel so cheap and used.

This is probably the 2nd most important match of the season for 3 reasons.
1. The usual weeks rest.
2. The bottom half of the 8 is probably the strongest I can recall, the teams there are not just making up the numbers. So whoever loses this week will have a very tough game the following week.
3. Call Scott "mission accomplished" bluff and expose him for the Con Man that he is.

Watching Kurt Heathley over the past 2 weeks I am very confident that he will be ready to go next year provided that there is no recurrence of his injuries. The young man has a fierce desire to succeed and has a hard edge.

Can't allow them the space that their onballers were afforded in the first half last time around. Also can't allow ourselves to be fazed by the pressure they have put on our ball carriers in every game except for the last one. Langford, Sewell and Puopolo will be crucial. Wish we had Cyril :(

Cant wait for this Friday, 3 more wins Hawks.... Need to play a small foward line and need to pressure them accross the ground. If we can line one of there running smalls go through them fairly of couse

Wouldn't surprise me to see McEvoy in for Ceglar this game after booting bags the last two weeks, although Ceglar would be unlucky. Hale showed that you can expose Mcintosh drifting forward in the ruck, plus would allow Hale to play permanent second forward and take another tall.

My feeling is Mc evoy will play too, but if he comes in he must dleiver. He must stand up and make it count. If mcintosh and the other clown get on top in the ruck it will make me sick.

Love Ceglar and i recon he deserves his chance, Hale 3 more games and 3 more wins mate then you can call it a day and you will be remembered as a hawthorn great.

I think we should stick to the same side that played Geelong in round 22, I don't think any player from that game did enough to be dropped for this one. I have a sickening feeling that Lake will be a late out though. Hopefully this doesn't come back to bite me, but I doubt Johnson, if he plays, will have as big of an impact as usual. Urghh, freaking out already. The thought of losing to Geelong or Sydney in a final this year fills me with wayyyy more dread than previous seasons.

Sorted. Ended up in Q30, Row B.
Never sat in the Ponsford for a Cats game - last week and the Prelim I was at the other end.
