Not sure how to process these changes; Chris Scott
and the MC have blinked.
Personally I'd have left Dahlhaus out from Rd 1 this year and gone with any number of other players, as the role he was supposedly in the team for just didn't justify his continued selection; he only rarely curtailed opposition run from defense, and has been just the wrong person for the job despite his best efforts (which I've never question).
On the other hand, I'd personally have persisted with Ratugolea through thick and thin; needs continuity and exposure at the level to unlock his potential, is my opinion.
Yes, he has frequently underperformed and his ruckwork has underwhelmed more often than not.
But we need Blicavs height in defense (despite his own severe limitations), and Stanley can't ruck all day long - so unless we want to run with two genuine rucks in Stanley and Fort, then Stanley/Ratugolea is the best hope we have, if we want to retain defensive integrity.
I wasn't sure on Holmes earlier in the season but the further the year has progressed the more obvious it has become that his energy is a boon to this side. May well make a crucial mistake tomorrow night, I hope our supporters don't castigate him though as we desperately need fresh legs in this team.
However now that my preferences have been reflected by the selectors I can't help but feel a sense of unease for a number of reasons which I will refrain from discussing right now lest my post go on FOREVER.
Anyway, I always enjoy watching big Esava in action, on those rare days that he is ''on'' he is a lot of fun to behold. Lets hope tomorrow night is one of those occasions, wouldn't be the first time he has stepped up in a Final either.
