Not sure how to process these changes; Chris Scott and the MC have blinked.

Personally I'd have left Dahlhaus out from Rd 1 this year and gone with any number of other players, as the role he was supposedly in the team for just didn't justify his continued selection; he only rarely curtailed opposition run from defense, and has been just the wrong person for the job despite his best efforts (which I've never question).

On the other hand, I'd personally have persisted with Ratugolea through thick and thin; needs continuity and exposure at the level to unlock his potential, is my opinion.
Yes, he has frequently underperformed and his ruckwork has underwhelmed more often than not.
But we need Blicavs height in defense (despite his own severe limitations), and Stanley can't ruck all day long - so unless we want to run with two genuine rucks in Stanley and Fort, then Stanley/Ratugolea is the best hope we have, if we want to retain defensive integrity.

I wasn't sure on Holmes earlier in the season but the further the year has progressed the more obvious it has become that his energy is a boon to this side. May well make a crucial mistake tomorrow night, I hope our supporters don't castigate him though as we desperately need fresh legs in this team.

However now that my preferences have been reflected by the selectors I can't help but feel a sense of unease for a number of reasons which I will refrain from discussing right now lest my post go on FOREVER.

Anyway, I always enjoy watching big Esava in action, on those rare days that he is ''on'' he is a lot of fun to behold. Lets hope tomorrow night is one of those occasions, wouldn't be the first time he has stepped up in a Final either.

O’Connor is taller than Stewart? And Zuthrie is the same height as Cam?

is this right?

Yep. Zuthrie is 1 cm taller than Cam, which you can see in interviews with both of them. O'Connor is deceptively tall at 6'3, which you just do not see on ground. Stewart is 190, so is just shaded by O'Connor, which you would not think when you see them in game. Only after matches do you see just how tall he is

Leon Cameron has been coaching at GWS since 2013 - would like to think that would mean he has a pretty good understanding of his former key forward

Maybe he read this thread. Poor bloke

That's not as impossible as it sounds.
Three or four times in the past fortnight I've been fascinated (appalled) to see/hear the exact same wordage that appeared here first,
from journalists and C Scott. More than coincidence- must be a mole somewhere.

Wouldn’t have thought GWS was the most credentialed finals team left in it, but there you go.

That's slightly off - Bulldogs are 5 from 7; they had lost their last 2 elimination finals before beating Essendon on Sunday

Blicavs All Australian squad nominations came in 2019 & 2020 - a lot more recent than 5 years ago
Has me ****ed where this whole Blicavs cant defend narrative has come from, easily his best position, makes the odd error with ball in hand but you could say that about most key defenders, still absolutely elite in a one on one contest

Holmes is another who doesn't look all that tall on tv but when you walk beside him, he's 6ft'3 with a broad back on him so a bit more filling out to come.

The modern day midfielder are monsters. A player 190cm - 192cm was a key position player in the mid 90's.

He's our worst ranked midfielder for metres gained for a reason.
He rarely goes long and direct. It's not his game.
It's all about multiple and quick possessions from half back and then providing link up play to our predominant movers.

Do you think Cam is on his way north?

On the face of it I can't say I agree with dropping Dahlhaus after all the ups and a lot more downs throughout the season it seems strange to continue to back him in and then drop him in a sudden death final, esp with someone as inexperienced as Holmes. I would have thought at this point in the season you are commit to the bloke you backed in all year. I will add all though he had some shockers his form was better in the 2nd half of the year, I think you play him and hope you get a Freo or Bulldogs game out of him (where he was genuinely good). He should have been dropped much earlier in the year to give someone else a crack at slotting into his role.

I know he's made the odd error in defence, but he's made more errors with ball in hand than from a defensive point of view

Kolo to kick a bag....

... And then be a late out because said bag contained a block of concrete
On Kolo, does he go to Taranto maybe? Had a lot of shots on goal lately but would not have copped a defensive defender in any of those weeks at a guess.

I do remember Holmes being confident that he would get a game in WA as the coaches had earmarked him for wider grounds. There was an interview a few weeks back.

either way - Dahlhaus and Simpson aren’t just dropped because of their performances in games. The have a look at who looks great on track too during the week. I have no doubt that Holmes is showing that he really wants it.
excellent point re the wider surrounds over there. Dahlhaus definitely not suited.

Higgins was the medical sub - him being omitted doesn't create a spot in the 22, rather he just keeps his spot on the emergency list

I get it - but he did play last week and come on to replace MOC.

Can’t see how they play us for fools and say managed rather than omitted. He’s not best 22 - just say it as it is. Dropped
