I know he's made the odd error in defence, but he's made more errors with ball in hand than from a defensive point of view

Yeah I agree with that, well put - he's decent enough in the aerial contests, co-ordinated enough not to give away clumsy free kicks against smaller opponents when the ball is on the deck deep in defense, too. Makes defensive mistakes like most, but not too egregiously.
I think we definitely need his height back there in a general sense, although I would love to see De Koning get a lot more opportunity in 2022.

Blicavs' biggest issues arise when he has time to think. Takes an eternity to make a decision once he has taken a mark or earned a free kick. Telegraphs his disposal a bit too much.

His instruction should be very clear:

Immediately find a short target forward of the man on the mark; or

Belt the shit out of it 55m down the line.

NEVER EVER KICK WITH YOUR WEIGHT BACK* OR TRY TO SWITCH THE DIRECTION OF PLAY

*Kolo should also get this direction

Yeah they both have similar issues you're right.

It's not like he (Blicavs) turns it over all that often, either, really - but by the time he decides on the best option, all of his best options have gone...

I'm not buying it sorry. I don't care how much a player is liked, ultimately he has to perform ... Dahlhaus simply doesn't and nobody can mount a serious case for if they watch games.

From my end teams run the ball out of defence too easily and it's usually Dahlhaus's man.

Dahl must be charismatic as hell and fun at club parties, can't think of any other reasons for him being part of the line-up in all these games.

He's performance throughout the season has been below average.

If the Giants conceded another 65 entries then the tall strategy works as that number implies a lot of re entries which usually means congestion. Bomb it in high and the numbers will create enough pressure if the ball drops as the mids will all be down there. If they win the midfield and we can’t get the ball in then it will come out like a basketball off a wall. Cummings and Whitfield have absolutely no interest in picking anybody up so Close and Miers have to make them pay if they are going to rack up 30 the other way.

I absolutely don't want to say this for fear of jinxing - last time we played here we obliterated a very in form Fremantle.
We dominated the midfield , structured up well behind the ball and used the open spaces to switch angles and open up the corridor. Our F50 entries were quality with Hawk , Danger and a variety of smalls scoring.
Optus is similar length to the G with slightly narrower ( but still wide) wings - I think we'll go OK , fingers crossed.
that's what I was alluding to.

I respect Shane Mumford in that way that you respect a big lumbering oaf who has no compunctions around snapping an opponent's torso, but really Rhys Stanley should jump all over Mumford at the centre clearances, and should also get opportunities to take it away himself from the middle.
Get organised at the centre bounces and we're a chance to score with some regularity before GWS get a chance to flood back.

Holmes, Parfitt, these guys will be part of the midfield rotation I suspect, our core crew need the support.

Perth weather forecast for tomorrow arvo/evening is NO RAIN.
This should suit our precise mark/kick/ball control game style.
A whole lot different to the Dockers game earlier in the season where it did not stop raining all night.

Mummy will go hard at whoever he can line up.

GWS have rolled us the last 3 times on the back of faster leg speed / ball movement.

To counter this, the brains trust bring Sav back in ... perplexing at best.

The main things that killed us against GWS last time was;
1. Taylor took 8 intercept marks on or running off Hawkins. Had 17 intercept possessions for the night including those 8. Hawkins MUST show him respect and not sit off the back of him again. Haynes, Cumming, Whitfield and Ash also had a ton of intercepts. Those led to a LOT of rebound 50s, a stat they won easily 29 to 56. People are loathing the fact we have no Stewart but if I remember correctly against GWS he had 0 intercept marks according to one of the match reports.

2. Inaccuracy. Overall conversion stat we lost 32% to 68.4%. We kicked 3.9 to half time, you aren't winning many matches when you convert at 25%. Meanwhile GWS were 7.4 (63%). It was a big problem that we needed to rely on so many goals from Henry, Tuohy, Blicavs and Kolodjashnij. Higgins, Holmes, Hawkins, Close and Parfitt all missed completely gettable goals. The issue in finals is if misses build up, your confidence goes to utter shit. Need to score early and take our chances.

3. Injuries and bad luck hurt us bad. Danger injured early, Rohan didn't have a big match before injury as well, and then we lose Tuohy late. At least this time they had the bad luck in losing Toby to a bout of stupidity.

Like the idea of a poster who suggested we stop Whitfield with Rohan.
Some say Rohan would not have the endurance, but not so sure about that. Who else could we use to nullify Whitfield? We have seen him carve us up.

Fascinates me that Fort continues to be an emergency and no-one mentions him.
Has been VFL outstanding
Wonder if Rhys or Rata are carrying an injury
