Personally I think I’d take Prior, Robbo has the same skill errors but his free kick against for Sonsie’s goal was just so bad and unfortunately predictable. I also think he’s been a bit selfish with his running at times and cracking the sads when he doesn’t get used in transition. Also the clip of him giving Neale a spray when he missed a handball kind of pissed me off, I’d be going a few guys ahead of Robbo at this point.Hard to disagree but he was one on Thursday night who had a couple of iffy moments that can cost you big finals, I think it's either him or Robbo and I think Robbo is marginally the safer option to win on Friday.
Again hard to disagree, thats why Fages is on the big bucks and I'll back him in whoever gets picked.... Unless Dev is out a Lyons is inPersonally I think I’d take Prior, Robbo has the same skill errors but his free kick against for Sonsie’s goal was just so bad and unfortunately predictable. I mean you would ASSUME this would be the case. But if it were surely the club would have had a quiet word to some in the media about Lyons having OP and not being fit. Yet it's still being written up as he is either in the mix or will come back in.Lyons is finished for the year, and it is now common knowledge that OP was his problem all year. They should be able to get him right for next year which gives us great midfield depth. I think we tend to forget how good he has been.
With Ashcroft coming in, Lyons fit, and the expected improvement of several younger players its looking good for next year

I watched the whole ressies match and it would be astonishing if he plays this week. He spoke about 'just getting through it' after the game implying he was coasting. But surely if the plan was for him to play this Friday, he would have played say 2.5 quarters at full throttle, shown he had some zip, got leather poisoning, and come off early to keep fresh. Instead he played the whole match, and while resting a bit in the forward line there was plenty of time on the ball. If he plays this week would be sillier than Mathieson not coming on in final quarter v Essendon and CEY replacing Coleman in the 2020 prelim COMBINED! Hopefully i am just working myself into a lather for nothing.
Agree with others that we forget how good Lyons was. 23 Brownlow votes last year. Nobody would want him anyway, but he can be told, get yourself right, and you can be in the mix for the midfield again. But he should not be guaranteed a spot any more. He already looked on the wane pre OP if indeed it was 8 weeks ago he got it.
We just have to prioritise a side with good run and spread this week.
Rayner is the only 100% guaranteed in. Fort most likely to play unless we decide smaller is better. Rayner could be a third key forward of sorts?
I would have Robinson as sub only because he just cannot run out games anymore on the wing.
Prior I was tempted to drop. He might stay just because he has a good engine and some genuine toughness.
Ah Chee I would play only if fully fit. He seemed a bit off on Thursday, presumably more minutes than planned.
So the names presumably being juggled up are:
OUTS McInerney
POSSIBLE OUTS Robinson, Prior, Wilmot, Mathieson
INS Rayner
POSSIBLE INS Ah Chee, Fort, Answerth
DON'T DO IT FAGES dropping Dev for Lyons
I am firmly of the view Answerth should not play - poor vs Pickett recently. Disposal not great. I think he can get back in the team but not this week.
Cooooooked, for this season at least15 disposals in a reserves match is not deserving of a call back.
If he has no symptoms for 10 days prior yeswill Big O be available for the match after melb?
McStay was also covered in ice after the game. Think knee, hand and something else were iced up. He clearly coped an absolute battering and not sure he could do that for multiple weeksI think Fort is a lock, McStay will be buggered if he has to ruck with Joe till the GF.
I think the protocol is 12 days (not ten) and as such he’d miss out.If he has no symptoms for 10 days prior yes
I hope Fages and co. have the balls to go Wilmot, that will be a selection delemma.Tickets sorted
Ins: Fort Rayner Answerth
Outs: O Prior Wilmont
Although I liked Wilmont's game I think Fages will back Answerth
It is twelve days from diagnosis so he wouldn't miss (Thursday through to next Friday is 15 days) unless he's still suffering symptoms.I think the protocol is 12 days (not ten) and as such he’d miss out.
Post-concussion break from footy should be longer than 12 days: study
The brains of Australian football players are still recovering 12 days after they are concussed according to a Monash University study of amateur players.www.theage.com.au
Sounds like we're your 2nd team. I appreciate that.Pardon the intrusion but a Brisbane-based, Gabba member Crows fan here to share a quick opinion.
Have seen a number of the Lions games this year inc the past two and in terms of selection I reckon you should be going with:
Hoping your boys can get over the line .
- McInerney out ~ Fort in (obvious)
- Prior out ~ Rayner in (I thought Prior had a mare and his confidence visibly dropped throughout the match)
- Robbo out ~ Answerth in (I know Robbo is a fan favourite and it’d be a fairytale if he got a flag but I think he’s just as likely to cost you a match with his temper and I think Answerth is a desperado who’s built for finals).
Massive Robbo fan, but that spray was so uncalled for and didn't make sense at all.Personally I think I’d take Prior, Robbo has the same skill errors but his free kick against for Sonsie’s goal was just so bad and unfortunately predictable. If the Lions go for another “free flowing” shootout game against the Demons and loose by a big margin then I will be convinced that the team’s issues are due in part to a failure of the brains trust and the coach. Leigh Matthew’s team at least tried different tactics and held opponents such as Essendon with respect and as such received hard earn wins. Although the lions games against the demons this year have been whitewashes from the start, there is definitely something a miss from a team who has done well early for a number of games this year only to get overrun in the end. The very fact that you can have two humiliating losses against the same team in the same season raises the question that this is not a team or brains trust that learns from its mistakes.
I'm actually okay with it. Robbo and Lachie are pretty good mates from what I can tell, Robbo is just incredibly passionate and would've had a good chat about it after as well.Massive Robbo fan, but that spray was so uncalled for and didn't make sense at all.
Happened right in front of us and we were two rows off the fence.
To me the alternative from Lachie handballing to Robbo would of been a speculator kick down the boundary.
Who knows what that would of done , as it was it was a stoppage.
Having said all of that , I get how a player in our team could crack the shits by getting refused when in the open.
Who knows could of been about another instance .
It wasn't a good look.
i assume you mean round 1 , you'd hope sowill Big O be available for the match after melb?

Yeah for sure, heat of the moment, such a hot contest and with O going down, the pressure cooker was up.I'm actually okay with it. Robbo and Lachie are pretty good mates from what I can tell, Robbo is just incredibly passionate and would've had a good chat about it after as well.
