Thoughts on Macrae. Was he forgetting the pace of the game, is he genuinely slow as shit. Got caught three or four times with the ball. Most of them from having poor awareness and treacle-like disposal.

Always seems to take him a game to get up to the pace again, or get his awareness back, after being out (hence being run down a couple of times). He's a star and must play next week. Hopefully his tank is still good after a month or so out, we need his gut run on the MCG.

Reckon McLean if we play Geelong, or Stevens if we play Hawthorn for Jong.

Get the feeling our returning players will be pretty sore from being underdone. If any of them had to go out, I'd say either Wood or Macrae. But happy to leave them in, great we get the extra day off, almost made the thursday night game worth it.

Stupid Channel 7 commentary were saying Stringer might not play? WTF. He might not have kicked a bag, but he took away a decent defender for the night allowing others to kick goals, and did plenty of nice things.

McLean or Williams in for Jong, wouldn't mind seeing Hrovat though. Big no to Stevens. Guessing Suckling plays but I'm becoming less of a fan every week and I didn't even start off much of a fan.

Agree with McLean for Jong - almost guarantees a goal (and a few frustrating free kicks against whoever our opposition ends up being :tonguewink:). It does essentially mean we lose a midfield rotation but we did absolutely fine with a player down (Jong) for most of last night so that shouldn't be too great a concern. Also, McLean played well against the Hawks in Rd 3 (12 disposals, 2 goals). He missed both Geelong games.

Isn't it great to have so many choices for selection....
Out - Jong (very sad)
In - Webb / McLean / Williams (depending on opposition)

apart from that, it it aint broke......

I forgot who it was against but McLean looked good as a midfielder before he got injured. Clean, evasive and vision.

Would like to see McLean come in but think we need a bit of inside grunt to replace Jong. Leaning towards Stevens but wouldn't be surprised and wouldn't worry me if McLean came in or we went slightly taller.

Think it's between Stevens and McLean and the only other possibilities being Campbell or Roberts

if we play the Hawks would like to see Cordy v Gibson

I'm not sure Campbell is 100%?

I still think the teams better structurally with Campbell instead of Cordy. Cordy can't take the contested marks that Campbell can when playing forward and I think he's the best all round ruck at the club.

Maclean as an emergency seems more likely than Stevens or Hrovat.

Thanks.
My better half is a lifelong Dogs supporter too.

McLean/Hrovat/Stevens/Webb for Jong. Whoever is best on the weekend.

Cordy is the superior athlete though and has deceptive pace for a fairly tall player. His contested marking is slightly worse but he is a better forward in just about every other aspect. Well, apart from kicking I guess. His set shots are rubbish and Campbell is a beautiful kick.

I still think Id pick Cordy just for the forward defensive pressure he applies while still being competent in the air.

Cordy also has the capacity to swing into the backline - as he did at times last night

Suckling is obviously still sore. Checked out the 'game time' stats and see he only spent 71% on the ground. Other than Lin Jong (27%), Suckling is the next lowest. Moyd (79%) and Jack Macrae (81%) are next after him. That's a huge variance. All of the guys coming back from injury were 80%+

He could be doubtful for next week.

For anyone else checking out the 'game stats' have a look at the disposal effectiveness figures. Dahl, Biggs, Morris, Moyd, Dickson all <70%. Jong went at 50%
