Why is TIMSON off the back of a Casterton maiden win 9$ in the Caulfield Guineas Prelude, while genius C.Waller’s horse CAPE BRETON sits at 26$ with some perfectly solid Sydney 2 y/o form behind it. Trialled well also. Can’t remember the last time Simon Wilde had a group winner, let alone a metro Saturday winner, whereas we know the deeds of the great New Zealander and his astuteness in placing his horses in Melbourne. Really want to be with CB at gross overs and Brigantine.

I do see where you're coming from and on face value tend to agree. A 300-400K lost earnings fine is massive plus the related risk of lost stable connections etc.

I think this situation is a bit like the JMAC betting one where the punishment was well in excess of what the crime deserved, but in both cases the industry wanted to make a strong statement to all others not to head down that path and JMac and Kah got caught in the crossfire.

Also worth noting the ban was only 3 months, with the extra 2 for providing false evidence.
