Just to reiterate - Any post you make on Big Footy you are the author of. That means you take responsibility for what you have written. There have been instances of individuals being sued for comments made on internet forums recently. I think it is important that posters understand this for their own benefit. If it were me all i'd say is that it is better to be safe than sorry.

Have to say this is rubbish Dave. You're a good poster and a Pies man to the core but this type of thing is garbage.

Too many sexual assaults go unreported because of ideals like this.
I've no idea one way or the other but don't jump at conclusions like that.

Precisely. The nature of the accusation/charge is crucial here to determining what the punishment should be.

Could be, but it's incredibly insensitive to suggest as jimmy said. This is what the police, etc are for, to get the facts right and make a decision.

Too many lives are ruined by false sexual assault allegations. Fev is the public tip of a very deep iceberg. Yes there are unreported incidents, but ruining people with false allegations shouldn't be taboo. Happened to someone I knew, she went so far as making a signed police statement and for whatever reason these 'people' don't get charged with anything more often than not.

You cannot ignore the potential for a false accusation, especially where somebody high profile is concerned.

People have lost jobs, gone to jail, and even committed suicide over claims later proven to be nothing but nasty lies.

Anything is possible, we will just have to wait and see... and hope.

Until further details are availible there is no point speculating really is there? There is a huge range on what could of happened and we really have nothing to base our assumptions on.

Understand that. What will be, will be in regards to the allegations and I'm confident the police and club will come to the correct conclusion.

Still no need to slander an unknown girl.

A woman has alleged she was assaulted by a member of Collingwood's grand final winning team early yesterday at a house in South Melbourne, after she agreed to have sex with another man.

An affidavit prepared by investigating police alleges the woman was subjected to a further assault by another man as she was leaving the room.

The woman has been examined by police forensic officers and was found to have injuries consistent with rape, it is alleged.

The player has been interviewed by police over his suspected involvement in the alleged assault and released.

A second Collingwood player has also provided a statement to police.

No charges have been laid.

Honestly I couldn't believe that the team had Crown Lagers in the rooms directly after the game. I understand they wanted to help the players enjoy and relax, but the last thing they should give them is alcohol.

With Eddie and his protective instincts, I'm surprised he didnt have security personnel follow the players around all night

Or it gave the person making the accusations one day to attempt to extort a player to keep it quite, which is what happened in the Milne/Montagna case.

I have often seen AFL players from a number of different clubs at nightclubs that are often escorted and treated like babies in the manner in which you suggest. Often the "minder" will kinda of get the guys in an area and bring girls and drinks over to them at will and the players kinda of just stand in their designated spot.

Smart post this one; but:

Look, the allegations are of sexual assault, this covers a broad range of things.

Facts are:

a) They do happen
b) Allegations are put forward when nothing has happened

Also, as posters have previously pointed out, you can find out who the players who are at the center of the allegation are.

As for the players, as per the articles publicly written throughout HS, Age etc, it is really only about one premiership player.

As most Collingwood players, (I'm trying to be subtle here), they probably have a girlfriend, who was probably with them on the night.

The allegations may be the player pushed her, any speculation is just unnecessary. It could be shithouse bad for us, it could be nothing. Let's hope it's the latter.

Edit: Ok allegations are far worse. Not good.

That is the biggest load of garbage, you cannot use that as the reason for some moron allegedly doing what they have done. That has been the way that teams have celebrated winning a premiership since time immemorial yet no-one else has ever been this stupid!

Not exactly speculation.

The Australian is sourcing an affidavit from the police. That isn't exactly "speculation".

Anyway, I can just imagine MM would be fuming right about now.
