The level of tripe going on about who would come up from Division 3 is mind boggling. Please people, it cannot be any other Club than Black Rock. They legitimately won games ins 2012 - no matter what the Accountants at the SFL may say, the whole thing was a massive beat up which can be proven. Assuming that it is what Cannizzo & Co wish to do, if there is any other Club promoted than Black Rock, it will be on for young and old

Agree entirely. The fact the league were aware of BR's money situation and accepted a payment plan before renegging it still hard to swallow. The decision to demote the club was made on the back of the loss to South Yarra.

Sandown have already stated they don't want to go up and now rumours of Caulfield going up? Caulfield couldn't field a side 18 months ago, so lets get realistic.

Black Rock will be far more competitive than any other division 3 side

So you're telling me that Black Rock demand to remain in division 2 just because they're payment plan?? What happens to 2013 payments & then 2014, will they be on said payment plan as well? Its like someone loaning a mate $200 & the mate says I'll pay you back at $20 a week, then the next month he asks you to loan him more money. You just wouldn't loan him more money unless he was going to forgo some penalty.

So why should Black Rock stay in the division & business to caring on as usual when others are fully paid up?

To my knowledge Black Rock's performances haven't warranted them really staying in divvy 2 anyway.

2010 - 2 wins against winless Lyndale, 2011 - 3 wins? & 2012 only 2 wins, probably very lucky if it weren't for Lyndale or Caulfield to already not be in Division 3.

So I agree Caulfield should not get a look in

becouse like all clubs you have to win a grany to go up it makes the players fill right

^^ This.

We put it down to a vote between all players, coaching staff and committee members.
We asked for reasons if they were FOR or AGAINST.
Obviously the majority voted AGAINST promotion, main reason that was given was the players felt they prefer to earn the right to be there by winning a Premiership.
This isn't Soccer or the VAFA.

so I was right

Caulfield going up seems right now given they have a much better admin and a good link with the junior club, but could it be that a certain SFL Board member is an ex Caulfield President? did he have undue influence?

Because everyone else above them "respectfully declined the opportunity"

The League should have bitten the bullet and left it a 9 team competition. Caulfield will get smashed week in and week out and will negate any inroads they have made over the past few years. Moorabbin whilst they believe will be competitive will realise by Round 6 how hard it is going to be.

With Caulfield in Div 2 you have two wins. Not sure where the rest are going to come from. Hope Moorabbin does well, its just always a big jump, and the comp has changed when Moorabbin were last in Div 2.

it hasant changed that much if team that we played then are still in div 2

I have heard from a good source that Bentleigh has approached the SFL and asked to be demoted to division 3 because they have had a mass walk out of reserves players and the club has been hanging its hat of its reserves for 10 years.......

Big pig, not sure of your source but they have plenty of kids coming through at Bentleigh... but probably too late now as fixtures are out..

perspective - sounds like you guys have breed another crop of youngsters to win another reserves flag ???

Haha 10 years lol I remember losing a praccy match to Black Rock 2s once in 2007

i have also heard from a good source that Tom Backman from bentleigh has been doing his own training and is ready to take this division apart?? Fish what are your thoughts on this? can he play?

Merry Xmas fellow BigFooty tragics.

Has anyone heard anything about whether ODFC have selected their new coach?
Is the selection process ongoing? Were their some creditable applicants. When will we find out? Or will Fermanis just be Capt Coach?

We have the Oaks first up next year at home, so we'll find out first hand what the new coach has to offer.
