Interesting choice of praccy matches there bigTwix. I'll tell you how the results will go, not that results matter:
1. Glen Eira (I assume that's what you meant) - good win by Skye
2. Edi Asp - Good match, could go wither way (I'd would like to see this match is comparison of the 2 standards)
3. Elsternwick VAFA D3 - (Without being too disrepectful) A smashing & a confidence booster for Skye . You'd get more benefit from playing an intraclub match Seniors vs Reserves. In fact maybe your reserves should just play. Obviously someone is good mates with someone at Wicks?

Kind of old news this. It was announced that Southern Dragons were leaving SFL Div 2 last December, this was after they appealled AFL Victoria's original decision to keep them in the SFL. They stated that they couldn't compete in the SFL due to the issue of competing against clubs that paid their players & wanted to find their niche back in the VAFA.
Kind of poor form in my opinion as the SFL bent over backwards for them in a lot of ways & after 4 years they go back to where they originated.
There won't be a bye as a team is coming up (which I'll get to next) as Carrum Patterson Lakes are entering the competition & thus there would have been 11 teams in Div 3 & 9 teams in Div 2, so it makes sense.
What doesn't really make sense is the team that was promoted. Sandown, Doveton, Mt Waverley & Ashwood who all featured in the finals declined the offer due to their own personal reasons. Therefore Caulfield who finished 6th but is financial accepted the offer after only winning 1 game in Div 2 the year before.
South Yarra has also stayed up in Div 2 due to Black Rock forcibly demoted by the SFL for being unfianacial
I hear that the Coach down Carrum Downs way is doing his best to get up and play again this year after his 'career ending injury' against South Yarra a few years back.

Not enough room for him down there. 'The general' aka our man M.Frizell has got things running smoothly back there. Along with the skipper and fossil running like clock work in the guts. Probably see him as a forward pocket specialist/ pinch hitting ruckman. He's on track for a rnd1 return anyway, look out springy

Good choice of praccy matches fish. I think it's good to see clubs making pre season games a challenge rather then confidence boosting. How do you think you will go? IMO three losses are the most likely outcome

One would certainly assume that from the outside looking in, however I think we'll put up a good fight & be better for the experience. Last year I would have probably wholeheartedly agreed with you but I think a couple of opposition teams have changed slightly
Clayton game: Bit of a flimsy argument but the Clays have lost what looks to be 17 players off the clearance list, so it may bring the game back to a more level playing field. Noted that they have not put foward any potential recuits to date.
Heatherton game: Always been a pretty even game, as its an annual event between our two clubs. Heatherton I think pull the reigns up a little at the end as we always seem to be fast finishers in that game but only ends up being only 1 to 3 goals the difference. Looks like they have lost a few as well but I'm not sure if they're their gun players or not. Seem to have a recruited a couple as well. They always have a knack of recuiting good players.
St Pauls game What can I say? They are a top 3 Division 1 team. They have recuited exceptionally well over the off season which includes the recruits of Luke James & Jay Bruno. More of a exhibition match to promote money, publicity & recuiting into both of the clubs. The fans are billing it as The Bentleigh Derby. We'll definitely be up against it in this one but better for the experience against Cousin Tiger mob

In my opinion the Dragons showed very poor form. The ex CEO poured a lot of time into establishing the club,Although they were always a bit "precious" . They are better suited in the VAFA though but wait until they start travelling miles and miles and still get their bodies hurt fairly by "Amateurs" . They will discover the grass is not always greener...

Big Willy. Think he is just training to get some fitness and if he can you never know stranger things have happened. I'm hearing the boys from Carrum Downs are going along just nicely at the moment, very fit, which was probably what cost them in the end last year (too slow, not fit enough). Have picked up some handy players and have got a few back i hear. Will be a very even comp again this year I feel, can't wait for it to start up again. Murrumbeena are my pick to be the big improvers.

Just wondering if Fish 20 can confirm that Bentleigh put in an official complaint to the SFL about certain things that may or may not have been said by a OD player on a website ?

Im not even from Bentleigh and I can answer that question,
Hopefully so If you are in fact talking about Elvis, firstly his language and abuse he caused after the bentleigh game in finals and then was stupid enough to put it on the Oakleigh facebook page for all the clubs to see.
His not part of your club anymore so what does it matter.

Haha nah I would've have thought so Homer. If we did put in a complaint then it's news to me & would've been a little petty in my opinion, so no. But I do think you're good at stirring the pot which I like. I don't think what he stated on Facebook was too bad actually, plus it was back in October when he posted it. We & the SFL have probably been called worse than "dogs" in our time, so water off a Duck's back to us (no pun intended)
Looks like he's no longer at ODFC anyway but we did have a laugh at the Facebook post at the time as did a few from other clubs.

Seasons getting close, practice games not far now.Very exciting times! Looking forward to seeing how this season kicks off. I know all of us down at the toolbox are looking forward to Mordi rnd1. Big hype and big expectations for 2013!

probably the reason the bombers didnt make a GF last year. faield in finals after a stellar season. id hate to be in the shoes of any hff in the comp with MFRIZELL lining up on ya. pretty sure he got the word 'redemption' tattooed on the inside of his eyelids after the finals last year. what a man, what a legend
