One would certainly assume that from the outside looking in, however I think we'll put up a good fight & be better for the experience. Last year I would have probably wholeheartedly agreed with you but I think a couple of opposition teams have changed slightly

Clayton game: Bit of a flimsy argument but the Clays have lost what looks to be 17 players off the clearance list, so it may bring the game back to a more level playing field. Noted that they have not put foward any potential recuits to date.

Heatherton game: Always been a pretty even game, as its an annual event between our two clubs. Heatherton I think pull the reigns up a little at the end as we always seem to be fast finishers in that game but only ends up being only 1 to 3 goals the difference. Looks like they have lost a few as well but I'm not sure if they're their gun players or not. Seem to have a recruited a couple as well. They always have a knack of recuiting good players.

St Pauls game What can I say? They are a top 3 Division 1 team. They have recuited exceptionally well over the off season which includes the recruits of Luke James & Jay Bruno. More of a exhibition match to promote money, publicity & recuiting into both of the clubs. The fans are billing it as The Bentleigh Derby. We'll definitely be up against it in this one but better for the experience against Cousin Tiger mob

Look forward to all three matches

Jay Bruno 25 years old.. Won a league Medal as a 21 Year old, Has played in probably close to 50 finals and in my opinion can win a game on his own! (best athlete ive seen run around in local footy)
Luke James another proven superstar these 2 men will put St pauls in a grand final along with gilbert merculia and Macintyre in the same side!

4. Murrumbeena - Sleeping giant. Haven't heard boo out of them yet which tells me their keep things under wraps. Havent recuited much but have a lot of colts from last year that can play 1s footy. Could go high as 2

Playing for the Beena Colts I can confirm that the 1's have nicked a couple of our better players including the captain from last year.

I've always said if you're good enough to play 1s at 18-19 years then you should be playing ones. These young blokes will learn so much from the experience rather than running rings around kids their own age or younger. Good on them

BEENA flying well under the radar and WILL finish top 3. have let go of a lot of dead wood to vafa and will unveil a few guns shortly. Watch this space. forget the rest!

On the clearance list Murrumbeena have picked up ONE new recruit and he is from Caulfield.....

IMO Mordialloc will not be beaten this year.
Bentleigh also I have heard have picked up some pretty handy players.

I think you will find Beena will be keen to continue along the development path of its younger players. The "new recruit" from Caulfield played at Beena a couple of seasons ago and will be nothing more than handy. Not sure where these other guns are coming from...but they may want to come to training soon considering the season starts next week.

Hampton beat CPL by 8 Goals after being a goal up with 5 fewer scoring shots at 3/4 time on the weekend

Hampton reserves won very comfortably and thirds won as well

Would have thought their reserves and thirds won the GF the way they were celebrating some of their goals

Not up to a preview but here are my tips (in bold)
Moridalloc v Hampton - Mordialloc by a little
South Yarra v Caulfield - South Yarra by a bit
Springy Dist v Skye - Skye by some
Bentleigh v Oakleigh - Bentleigh by not much
Moorabbin v Murrumbeena - Murrumbeena by a lot

Moridalloc v Hampton - Mordialloc should win but quite a bit
South Yarra v Caulfield - Whos knows, could go either way but since its at South Yarra I'll say them
Springy Dist v Skye - Skye hopefully but a little, but then again they play very well on their own ground, depends how many of our senior players will be back playing I guess
Bentleigh v Oakleigh - Bentleigh by alot, Ive heard bentleigh will be the team to beat this year
Moorabbin v Murrumbeena - Murrumbeena by a lot, I

Mordialloc v Hampton - Mordialloc by 5 goals. will be too strong for hampton on their big ground.
SouthYarra v Caufield - Caufield by 1 point. Flipped a coin
Springvale v Skye - Skye by 14 points. have some quality ins, fitter, faster, stronger then last year. haven't seen much action on the springy transfers and heard a few have moved on
Bentliegh v oakliegh - Bentliegh by 10 goals. Oakliegh have lost too many to compete with the big boppas and will be the big slider this year.
Moorabbin v Murrumbeena - Murrumbeena by 12 points. the promoted team has been competitive early in the last few seasons. havent heard much out of either camps but looking forward to seeing what they have come up with over the pre season

Let the games begin

Mordi over Hampton by a goal. The home ground will help plenty. The bloods will improve as the year goes on as they have little experience playing together as a group. Hammers have a star studded forward line but will suffer from a lack of inside 50s.

South Yarra by whatever over Caulfield. SY had little fire power and are fortunate enough to be playing a team coming from a long way down.

Springy Dist to lose by 50 points to Skye. A big pre-season will pay dividends to a younger, faster and fitter Bomber outfit. The big deck will suit aswell.

Bentleigh over Oakleigh Ds by 10 points. The big underachievers of 2012 may realise their potential under a different coach. Districts have lost some big names but still have Carroll, Killer, Fermanis, the goofy looking full back and depth in their 2s. Again, a superior pre-season will pay dividends for the demons.

Murrumbeena by 40 points over Moorabbin. If they maintain the list with an injection of youth Beena should go real well this year. If a kid is good enough, get him straight into the 1s and then manage their workload. The Kangaroos will fight it out for 8th with SY.

the 2s: hampton, SY, Skye, Bentleigh and Murrumbenna

Tha ladder: Skye, Beena, Bentleigh, Oakleigh, Springy, Mordi, Hampton, SY, Moorabbin and Caulfield

you have mordi at 6th overall??

I'll have a crack at Round One tips:

Mordialloc v Hampton- Mordy by 6 goals
Sth Yarra v Caulfield- Caulfield by 5 goals
Springvale Districts v Skye- Skye by 3 goals
Bentleigh v Oakleigh - Bentleigh by 6 goals
Moorabbin v Murrumbeena- Murrumbeena by 7 goals

These are basically guesses, except Caulfield will be competitive this season.
