You thought McGovern was worth pick 5 lol. So clueless, he was getting the 3rd best tall defender in our forward line, did you pay the "bet" you had with him.....???
the funnier follow up to that is he thinks this was proven correct when we got 13 and mcadam for him

in his words ' 2x 1st round picks'

yeah i'm sure we'd have preferred that to Rozee, Max/ben King or Bailey Smith

Yup. I was right. Obviously
You think pick 13 and 18 is worth pick 5?? Doubled down to clueless I see and this isn't taking into account the "Super Draft" were the top 4 could have been taken at pick 1 in any draft. Clubs offer stupid money to players, didn't Carlton offered $900K to Williams????

Yes, of course. That’s why we upped our offer, gave him an extra year and tried to change his mind

Jog on
Here comes Big Daddy Sanders to save the Adelaide board from the off-season insider info frauds

I think everyone on this board knows to take everything with a pinch of salt, if not more.

We don't need you alienating ppl and driving them off the board so if you don't mind pls STFU.

so i've never got upset with a personal insult, blocked anyone, refused to agree with someone therafter after a robust spiteful debate

but this comment is just pathetic, surely you're better than this

apologise or get ****ed seriously ..it's not on

Just following the back and forth here..this from fox footy on the deal

Adelaide also secures the services of McAdam, who’s rated by some recruiters as a top-20 prospect after an impressive 2018 SANFL campaign that saw him boot 31 goals from 17 games.

edit..the colonel is technically then right as the draft points for pick 13 and lets say mcadam was pick 18 in value right at the back end of the 1st round, those 2 picks equal draft pick 4 in points total...from purely a points perspective

Some clubs also didn’t have him on their draft board

In any case the deal was nowhere near pick 5 ‘ Rozee value’ in that draft

And water is wet. This isn’t arguable.

Jeff and ABAB are cut from the same cloth, and neither is going to be happy with the company they ally with ;)

From memory i think the club sounded carlton out about mcgovern and pick 7 for pick 1 but carlton shut that down.

But in fairness, just because some clubs didn't have him rated doesn't mean we didn't not rate him highly and the equivelent of a first round pick

Oh is Jeff talking about his imaginary club contacts again, the ones who all secretly agree with him - but never publicly

Think they go to a different school ;)

Pick 5

Rozee in that draft

Also I’ve never you asked this but has McGovern lived up to his lofty pick 5 trade status at Carlton ? And if not , why not ?

I mean, this isn’t even up for debate. Known facts

He got a 5 year deal at $800k and was traded for pick 13 and McAdam who Reid valued as a first rounder

Not quite.

McGovern was traded along with what turned out to be 2018 pick 44 (Justin McInerney - Swans) and 2019 pick 51 (Jake Riccardi - GWS) for McAdam and pick 13 (McHenry).

The only thing I've heard about McAdam was that his leg didn't feel right before that sanfl game where he got injured. He reported this to medical staff but they made him go out anyway.

First kick of the game for him he and tears his quad muscle which sidelines him for much of the middle of the season.

He was really pissed when this happened, understandably, and came back in the rooms and let the medical staff know about it.

It'd be tricky giving medical advice to McAdam - there's a little bit of the "boy who cried wolf" about him.

That's a bit harsh isn't?

For someone who started his career late and has had injury issues in the past, I completely understand why he'd be protective over his body.

He's only got a very short time frame to set himself up for the future and football is his best option at the moment.

I wouldn't begrudge him trying to protect his major asset or seek to get paid as much as possible to ensure his and his families future.

It's the medical staffs job to be able to diagnose injuries, not just listen to what the player says. Leaning techniques to objectively diagnose is literally what all the training and learning is based around.

If this mistake actually happened, I think the reaction was understandable.

Also explains why he's probably on good terms with everyone else, but the medical staff.

I personally don't think this is the main reason, I think it's probably the money and opportunity for a max contract towards the end of his short career. This incident probably makes it a bit easier to make the decision.

Classic Sanders! I'm sure in your mind your quote is 100% true. However the real world has slightly higher standards.

Liquid water is not itself wet, but can make other solid materials wet.

Wetness is the ability of a liquid to adhere to the surface of a solid, so when we say that something is wet, we mean that the liquid is sticking to the surface of a material.

I wonder what else you've got wrong?
