The Herald Sun reports the Bombers could offer the Power Lovett and pick No. 10 in exchange for Burgoyne.

Burgoyne’s preferred destination is Hawthorn, but the club is refusing to satisfy Port Adelaide’s demands of pick No. 9 and either Jordan Lewis or Grant Birchall in return for the vice-captain.
 Pick 9 AND Lewis or Birchall?

Burgoyne, 3 weeks away from his 27th birthday, had virtually one standout season in his career, and all of a sudden he's worth all of this? If I were Hawthorn I wouldn't even trade Lewis or Birchall for Burgoyne and yet Port want a top 10 pick thrown in also? :D

Burgoyne is a good player but why all the fuss? Wow. Don't fool for it Hawthorn, Williams is in love with Shaun and wants an unrealistic return.

I follow Adam White on twitter and he just posted that their is mounting speculation that Hawthorn is losing interest in Burgoyne.

I agree - I dont know why there is all this hype around an inconsitent player on the wrong end of the age scale, starting to amass a history of injuries, cant shake a tag and when he is tagged just phases out of the game and barely tries.

Upside is when he is in full flight, he is a great player no doubt. But since 2006, he has dished up (IMO) 3 season of bloody average with a flash of brilliance here and there.

Again I say, I dont get the hype?

Ha! Just losing interest in negotiating through the media with Port and having Choco write love letters to Jordan Lewis on afl.com.au

No way is he worth that much. As above....1st plus maybe McGlynn, Tuck, Morton etc.....

The latest article today has pelican saying he def wants to come to Hawthorn.

So it will be a trade to the Hawks or the national draft where the Hawks will more than likely pick him up with pick 9 alone....

Win-win for us really :thumbsu::D

Could not agree more.

The paper also reports that Essendon have offered Lovett plus pick 10, I think Lovett plus pick 26 would be more than enough.
If I was at Hawthorn I would not trade Lewis for Burgoyne at all, but the Power want pick 9 as well !!?? Lewis is younger and already very good, surely it would be Burgoyne plus sweetener for Lewis.
Maybe it is just me.

He will probably end up in the draft, Port just seem to be asking for way too much.

pick 10 and lovett is ridiculous, pick 9 and birchall or lewis is an even bigger joke.

all three of those players would attract a first rounder and burgoyne is not worth 2 first rounders at his age and with his injuries

Pick 9 is already paying over the odds but im sure Port are happy to let Essedon and Hawthorn squabble over him bumping up his trade value :D
It was reported today that knights had given up hope on Burgoyne, thank god! Lovett + pick 10 is crazy.
Agreed I think Hawthorns pick 9 is more than fair without a player being thrown in, but i guess it will depend on who blinks first.

The thing is, when Shaun is traded to Hawthorn he will re-enter midfield 'elite status' again.

If we cough up pick 9 + player, he'd better be elite. A fit Hodge should play in the middle alongside Sewell and Mitchell. Burgoyne should fit right in with his "elite" company.

Pick 9 and that’s it! That’s all he's worth and that’s a lot. When was the last time a player of Burgoyne’s age and status was traded for a top 10 pick? It rarely happens because pick 9 is too valuable, especially this year.

Pick 9 = Burgoyne:thumbsu:

Choco has use the comparison of a "Chris Judd type of deal" in all of this.

Unfortunately for Choco, Burgoyne will be 3 or 4 years older than when Judd was traded, and as other posters have suggested, hasn't consistently put together real good seasons of footy.

Lewis or Birchall is definitely unrealistic.

But suggesting just pick 9 for Burgoyne is even more of a joke.

Port did the exact same thing with us with Stevens years ago demanding a young Didak.

We all know how that saga finished.

I think this one is going down the same path and Burgoyne will end up in the PSD.

Pick 9 is insulting for a player of Burgoyne's quality.

Pick 9 + Tuck/McGlynn/etc is not a great deal more than just pick 9 by itself.

But ...

Pick 9 + Lewis/Birchall is over the odds.

The respective parties still seem to be miles apart in negotiations.

No, it's not.

Pick 9 for Burgoyne IS over the odds. Pick 11 got McLean, someone who is younger and has more upside.

As much as I would Lovett to attract a first rounder - I doubt that it will happen.

This.

Dean Bailey will be a very happy chappy come the end of the week me reckons.

Your under-rating of Burgoyne wouldn't have anything to do with your support of Adelaide, would it? Wouldn't want us to get what Shaun is worth.

Would you have accepted Pick 9 for McLeod a few years ago when he was 27/28? (Dodgy knee, lower output, older etc.) No? The kindly be quiet. Thank you.

Burgoyne is worth as much as another club is willing to give up to get him.

If there's a club willing to give up a top 10 pick and a player, then Burgoyne is worth a top 10 pick and a player.

Bigfooty and the over rating of draft picks continues.......
He's a star and far better than Lewis and considering pick nine is no guarantee and that the inclusion of Burg would send Hawthorns prem chances up quite a bit, he would defs be worth it.
