Press Release from AUFC:
Adelaide United Football Club is pleased to announce the re-signing of former Chinese International Shengqing Qu for the 2006/2007 Hyundai A-League Season.
Qu had originally decided to remain in China as his family was homesick, however since returning to his homeland they began to miss Adelaide and the Australian lifestyle. When contacted by the club, Qu was keen to return to the Reds where he was one of the A-League’s leading goal scorers.
Qu was without doubt the find of last years A-League, scoring 7 world class goals to help United clinch the inaugural Hyundai A-League Premiership.
AUFC CEO Michael Petrillo finalised the deal with Qu today, after several days of negotiation lead to the prized signature of the classy import. Several clubs have been chasing his services; however Adelaide was always his preferred option.
“Qu made it clear that Adelaide was the only club he would play for in Australia. He thoroughly enjoyed his time here last year and we are delighted to have secured his services for another year” said Petrillo.
“The exciting part for us is that he tells me he is in much better shape than when he arrived last year and is very keen to join the players in our quest to challenge for the Championship, along with the other new players in Giraldi, Owens and Spagnuolo which augurs well for the new season, and I’m sure welcome news for our supporters who deserve the best.”
Qu will arrive in Adelaide in 2 to 3 weeks time, to join John Kosmina’s squad, prior to the start of the 2006/2007 Hyundai A-League season
I is well confident now, our squad is looking pretty good.
