Analysis Should we be pursuing a secondary market post-Hobart? If yes, then where?

This move is absolutely ****ing baffling.

Sell two home games to two Western Australian teams? In WA.

Im glad the club don't want to win a premiership in the next century, they are hard enough, but now we have a 2 game noose every season.

Absolutely idiotic.
I don't mind tbh - if it is 2 tassy and 2 WA. Then see what's next after Tassy finishes. I think we all want no games sold but there seems to be no other choice for us at the moment. We don't have an alternative plan. That's the challenge for the club and neither current nor past people have been able to find suitable, sustainable funding alternatives. Hopefully that will come in time. In the meantime...........

So the Tassie games are going until 2028?

Those WA games better come from the four Tassie games….

The club can't be this stupid.

It would be suicide on a few fronts.

1. Final straw for the Melbourne members.

2. No player will ever join a Melbourne club playing an additional 6 interstate games, including 2 in WA. Further, we will leak players like a sieve in terms of player retentions.

I am going in half glass full.

We should actually pick up 1x extra Melbourne away game as part of this.

We have a winning record in WA the past 3 years.

Our "impact" in Tassie was declining fast, at least we are going somewhere that our supporters are engaged with the club, how loud are we at Optus!
I'd like to think our WA brothers and sisters will happily travel to Bunbury with more enthusiasm than the Freo or West Coast supporters. You mention glass half full; I'd like to think a regional footy ground will be half full of North Melbourne supporters.

I would have preferred the club to pursue a secondary market in Northern Regional Victoria and Southern Regional NSW. The old Murray Kangaroos concept we ran with, then dumped and moved on. The Sports oval at Lavington (which we've played at), is ripe for development, as well as the regional areas around it:

There's a big difference between hosting Fremantle in Hobart vs hosting Fremantle at Optus.

You know, the Fremantle we might likely contend against during this deal?
It’s works ok for the next couple of years. We should beat the eagles the next couple of years at Optus and then it’s more of a neutral ground at Bunbury vs Freo.

Once the eagles are up and about though I agree, it will be just handing over competitive advantage.

The partnership extension aligns with Spirit of Tasmania's support of the club's AFL side, which also runs until the end of 2025 after inking a new three-year deal late last year.

Does that mean -

2025 - 2 Tassie games & 2 WA games

2026/27 - 2 WA games

This needs to be clarified.

You seem to be trying really hard to upset yourself over this deal. That can't be good for your stress levels. From what giantroo says below, this is going to involve less travel for players and more Melbourne games for Melbourne members. So that means the few fronts that you nominate as reasons for suicide are null and void. So I suggest maybe just relax and wait for the details because this could all work out really well for the club and also for you.

Club still silent. Makes 'members first' a joke.

Having worked in media management for a long time, one of the greatest frustrations is when other stakeholders announce something ahead of you.

Thing is, when those stakeholders are the ones with the $$$ or regulatory approval, there's not much you can do about it.

Would have thought someone with your vast experience would know this intuitively.
