Adelaide played as well as anyone else this year the other night, and as for us, I think we played our best football in the first half of the year. This is natural with a lot of young guys who still need another pre-season or two to really get the legs to run out full seasons.

I am not expecting a win, but am simply the guys give all they have. Leave nothing on the park and play like we did against St Kilda, not how we did against Freo. In all honesty a win would be up there with the greatest in the clubs history, but even just by taking up it up to Adelaide, knowing that you tried, even if not quite good enough, sets us up for the coming years. And not only that, but shows those guys on the sidelines hanging to get back in next year, that they will have to earn their spots.

These are the games you make your reputations in, win lose or draw.

Bellchambers was having a field day, Watson was on fire as well. Someone from the Adelaide side was injured and we were kicking them goals left, right and center. Everyone couldn't believe we were causing such an upset.

Of course, it was just a dream though.

I think we're in for a flogging.

Let me just say that I am looking forward to Friday night. I was six when I first started following the Crows and that was in the 1993 preliminary final. That was a lot of pain. I remember Darren Bewick used to torment us through the 90s. I expect a good fast game and hopefully we get some measure of finals revenge :)

Tell me about it, I still have nightmares about Michael Long in that 3rd quarter....................:(:(:(

Bewick in that game was the start of my irrational fear of rangas. Odds are it would have eventuated anyway but he certainly kick started it!

Thankfully none of the current squad carry those mental scars and hopefully Mark Bickley has the sense to keep his mouth shut in the coaches box!

We'll beat Adelaide. Our record over there against them is not at all bad over the last 2-3 years, maybe not win/loss (though we won there the second last time we played them there) but the the contests have been even.(

At AAMI you got over us in Round 1 2007 (but according to an earlier post, when Adelaide beat Collingwood in Round 1 this year, it didn't count, right?) when Lucas kicked 6, but before that we just got over the line against you (I think it was by about 23 goals?) in 2006 and by an even smaller margin (I think it was about 15 goals?) in 2005.

So yeah. We have some OK form against you at AAMI.

I'm loving reading the posts on this board much more than on the Adelaide board.... it's a real reality check. I'm nervous and excited. Three of the best games I saw this year were when you guys beat the Pies, Carlton and St Kilda. Your team is exhilirating and will beat us if you can keep it up four four quarters. Take the foot off the pedal for ten minutes and it's all over though.

Well I'm driving over on Friday, tell me I'm not crazy.

The loss of Ryder will be hard to overcome, I'm going with a mate who is mad Crows fan, SA beer is like piss - gunna be a long night.

But I'll be there in red and black.

Go Dons!

For starters Coopers is 10x better than anything produced in Victoria and 5x better than anything else in the country. Having said that, they only serve Victorian swill at AFL games so you'll feel right at home :D

From a Pies Supporter i'd just like to say
GO BOMBERS!!!

you guys can definately win... just go all out, adelaide are way overrated and were made to look better by a rabble carlton outfit. Secondly you guys play a great exciting brand of footy and have rebuilt nicely and fairly not like those cheating scum the blues, you guys definately deserve to be in the top 8

I'll be cheering for you on Friday

Apparently our game against the Crows is already a foregone conclusion according to most in the football world and surprisingly some Crows supporters, just a sample of what to expect on their board right at the moment

Dont paint us all with the same brush :)

I think you guys have a good shot even without Lloyd who really is a shadow of his best form.

Having said that I do feel the Crows will dominate the ruck so it will be important for your midfield to feed off those taps and if you do its game on given the speed of your guys.

Best of luck.

Gotta love steppin it up a notch for finals footy.

Reality says that Adelaide should be convincing winners over a traveling and depleted Essendon, particularly going on Adelaide's form in the second half of the year.

The Bombers will struggle to shut down the plethora of Adelaide's scoring options which is the best Adelaide has had in a long time. All have proven that they are capable of kicking a bag of goals and this will be the difference between the two teams.

I agree with other posters who say there are are only two things that will beat us. Watson having a blinder (just clamp a hard tag on him now) and the Bombers running the lines for 120+ minutes. Anything less and it will be a long night.

Adelaide by 8..............goals!

I'm praying that Bock doesn't play.

If he does the loss of Lloyd becomes 10x worse.

Rutten on Neagle and Bock on Hurley makes us look very impotent up forward.

Took them abnormal goal kicking to keep them in the game against us earlier this year.

Lead Adelaide by 4 goals late in the 3rd quarter and should have put them to the sword.

I think people are dreaming when they mention Adelaide as flag contenders, they are an also ran club who Collingwood or St Kilda will chew up and spit out in the Semi Final at the G.

There finals record under Craig is atrocious.

Looking forward to hosting the bombers on Friday night
Frankly, the game earlier this year was a great advertisment for the AFL.
You guys did a fantastic number on the dawks last week, but in all honesty I cannot see you coming over to AAMI this week & winning, purely based on form, skill & the home ground advantage.
Our finals record is poor in the last few years but as with your team, we have a young squad that is developing into a super quality team. The inbalance will be restored over the coming years.

We have no right to get within 5 goals given injuries/suspensions and form, but this is an elimination final and the expectation of being an out and out favourite can weigh heavily. If we can get on top of you early, it will be interesting to see how the Crows react. We all know that Essendon can pile on the goals in a short period of time. Also, the youngster have grown an extra leg this year when they have started well and have taken it up to some of the best sides in the league.

Conversely, the expectation is Essendon won't even get close to the Crows (Rowie and Cornesy are already talking about next week at the G for CS!) so there won't be the same amount of pressure on the Bomber boys.

^^ This! :thumbsu:

We've had some sensational wins this season when nobody's given us the slightest chance!! This feels very much like each of those. I'm not expecting to win, but I won't be surprised.

The stage is set... Let 'er rip fellas!!!!

Bock seems an absolute certainty to play now, got through training without drama and apparentky pulled up perfect today.

Good news! I would say he will almost certainley be underdone and will be exposed by Hurley's awesomeness. :)

If you knew anything about the AFC you'd know he wouldn't really be underdone. One of those odd injuries that required a moon boot but still allowed him to do lots. He won't be that affected. Bock's an AA, and should have been put in the AA squad for this season, Awesomeness or not I think he will be able to contain his awe of Hurley, who is a young gun, but I wouldn't be surprised if you need him in the back 50 at some point.

Also worth noting, less than 1000 tickets left. Looks to be a 50K+ crowd awaiting.

*Yawn* ;)

In all seriousness, I expect this to be a good game, hopefully close and high-scoring. If the Crows fans are as loud there as they were at Etihad earlier in the year, then the atmosphere will be pretty good.

As much as I want to agree with you, I can't. Never forget Port belting the shit out of North at Telstra Dome.

Was the most inspid display of football from the Kangas that year.

Well lets just say SHOULD be competitive but to be honest i wouldn't be surprised if it is a bit of a mauling.
