Word on Truth Social is Nic was caught by ASADA at the end of last year and got suspended for 2 years. The club being the good blokes they are signed him on for the 2 years at a base rate to support him and squeeze out some more marketing juice.

I've heard the same.

Apparently he was caught intravenously injecting bulk triglycerides which were delivered daily to his door via a courier service, Doordash.

Truly the second darkest day in sport.

And this sort of incompetence is why the AFL will laugh in our faces if we ask for a PP.

We won’t ask for one. They don’t ‘believe in them’.

They should however ask for footy department cap assistance because the preparation and management of our players is clearly completely ****ed. Gone from one of the leagues most professional outfits to a punchline over the last 2 years.

If they aren’t going to go the ‘sack the coach’ route then I guess just sack everyone else because they clearly aren’t doing a good job.

Im going to call up the hospital and check on Liam Duggan

Only way to get some actual truthful news on our players injury issues it seems

M8 that eagle is in way worse a state than our injury list.

Basically chucks 1/10 of a lap then swoops down for a feed ignoring the trainer pleading desperately for her to piss off and keep flying.

Needs to be put to pasture along with thicc boi Naitanui.
Mate at least the big fella isn’t as cooked as Gaff or Rothdog

Every signature is potentially signed for no games. Its not like they knew he would get injured. Also, if surgery fixes it and he plays next year, he should go well.

Yep, because a guy who couldn't run out a full game in his entire career, will totally, definitely and absolutely be competitive after a full season layoff, at the age of 34, carrying 110kgs and with a history of knee injuries.

Nic Naitanui reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Homer gets a race horse called Duncan and enters it into horse races. Naitanui is that horse

"Do you really think he can see out a game"
"Well he ran 15km on a rock hard surface in January"

and then you got

"Psst, Nic, when the ball is bounced jump really realy high"

and then you got the commentators

"And out the back, you got Naitanui. The man people didnt expect to do anything isnt doing anything"

What was with the 'NN to see a specialist' the other day?

I'd be expecting him to be seeing a specialist every bloody week.

Fair question.

In all seriousness, this is what I think happened.

1. Fresh from their third failed attempt for the year to 'ramp up nics training load', medical staff provided an injury list with Naitanui 6-7 weeks for the 4th successive week, got heavily mocked on socials and the West picked it up.

2. Powers that be at club freaked out at the negative media attention and asked medical staff what was going on.

3. Medical staff ummed and ahhed, and when the panicked calls from the coms team became too intrusive finally sent him to see a specialist, who looked briefly at Nic Nat's feet, asked him to step on some scales, returned their eyebrows to their normal position and pointed out the bleeding obvious.

So what injury does Naitanui actually have? Achilles soreness does not last for so long or require surgery. Does he have a slightly ruptured achilles tendon? As in not a complete break apart? And he tried some weird rehab program that had an epic failure?

This is some f###ed up repugnant shit.

Nissie get it straight buster, we're not here to say please. We're here to tell you what to do and if self-preservation is an instinct you possess, you’d better fu##ing do it and do it quick. We're here to support — if our support’s not appreciated then lotsa luck, ....… If we're curt with you, it’s because time is a factor. We think fast, we talk fast and we need you guys to act fast if you wanna get out of this. So, pretty please … with sugar on top. Clean the fu##ing joint up.

(apologies to quentin)

Of course everyone is disappointed that Nic won't play again this year. Personally, it's the way which supporters are treated and fed information from the club.

The same happened with Oscar last year. They front the media, lie and we gobble it up like good little supporters should. Not happy with it? Go on cancel your membership, there's 20,000 waiting to take your seat.

Tldr: they don't give a **** about us.

Give them a ring and see how that goes for you .
I presume you are a member? if you are one of the many who contribute to his wage , who knows, you might have some clout.
Make sure you let them know you pay his wage though.
I was going to call them up and tell them I’m a doctor at the Eagles but I don’t want the second hand embarrassment over the phone

The "I pay your salary" energy is so American, I hate it.

I think it's fair to an extent. The Eagles have a habit of withholding information like it's still 1989 as if it's an advantage to not advise what's actually wrong with players or where they're at - despite already knowing they're injured. And this stems down to our Beagles players. Fair enough keeping niggles a secret so they can't be exposed at the next game by an opponent, but it's usually far beyond that.

The club exists because of fans and members, without us they don't have any money. Some transparency would be nice - like do we actually know what's exactly wrong with Duggan yet?

Apparantly cut his foot, which got infected and had the potential for sepsis.
