Pretty angry to be honest
Some of our senior players went missing this finals series
But seriously, we could be a little more gracious on this thread couldn’t we?
I love this club but shit we have some work to do
Get some help in the middle for Mitchell for a start and cut some of the dead wood from the list
I hope we are brutal over the summer

I think we landed where we really are, 5-6th place.
Clarksons got some work to do.
Do we keep Roughy and Burgs?
What do we do with Mirra, Duryea, Nash, Shoe & even Impey?
Can he come up with a system that beats the chaos/pressure game that Richmond and Melbourne are bringing?
We’re able to make finals, but not as a serious contender, and unless there’s a mini clean out and big recruiting, we are going to middle for a while.

We all want to watch a win - so it's not easy to say, "Well, yeah, but it's not that big a deal."

...but actually, it's not. Not this time. This isn't 2011 or 2012, when we were on the cusp of glory and seemingly threw it all away. We played this season in a way which saw us firmly in the mix, and that was beyond most of our expectations. We've played this finals series in a way which has seen us firmly on the outer - and although it's been frustrasting because we can see that we are capable of more, this isn't a last gasp from an aging team...we've got a strong future ahead.

The youth will be better for the run, and the holes in the structure are obvious for all to see.

Unlucky to lose Stratton and JOM at the wrong moment; with a slightly different line-up, and us taking our chances in the second, and we might've gone another week in. ...but actually, in the long term, we might be better for the rest and the run at next year.

Gutted for Big Boy and Henderson, who both played brilliantly.

Richmond look the best team left in the comp, but I'm not going to complain about a third fairytale ending in a row - Dogs, Richmond and then Melbourne? Yeah, I reckon that's worth cheering on.
Just on that Henderson point....

Is he our best draft steal ever ? Maybe he’s not super polished like a burgoyne, but i love his commitment and effort.

Clarko coached brilliantly tonight, had us set up perfect and we controlled the game for large large parts, but there was 2 reasons we lost tonight....

1. Selections - Doc, Nash shouldn’t have played. Frawley is horrid, and Ruff is finished. What a legend of the club but it’s time to move on.

2. Missed chances - this doesn’t need explaining

Get a few years in the kids and we'll be right, the senior players were carrying the load as expected, but when there's too many kids there's too big a load.

You can say whatever about the umps, reality is Melbourne scraped into the eight and if we were true top 4 quality the game would be put away.

Good year but this one stings a bit, I’m sure it will for the players as well, we had chances and didn’t take them, we always looked in trouble once Melb won the footy and spread, their entries had a lot more quality about them compared to ours. Some of the guys we expected to rebound didn’t, Breust, Burger, Rough, Poppy come to mind, all tried and had some moments but were out of it for too much of it. Gunner looked our most likely and was wasteful. A bit to place on a young guy but reckon Burton plays a little bit on his own terms, Sicily for all his talent is a liability defensively

Honestly cant be disapointed after taking a few breaths.

Exceeded expectations this season and got to see some exciting young players come on. Another interesting off season coming up.

The hatred the rest of the football world still has for us after our recent dominance still makes me smile.

We kicked ourselves out of it in the second quarter. Should have buried them.

Melbourne got up and punished us. That's what good teams do.

To get so close with two of our best/most important players in JOM/Stratts is an achievement in itself, but I hope the loss stings everyone of the boys nonetheless. We can be proud but we must not rest on our laurels. No one remembers Top 4, or finalists.

We have a decent group to build around. The younger guys have come in spades. Some were found wanting in the past two weeks but they will learn or they won't last.

Thank you Duryea for your service but I think you are done. Premiership champ will always be remembered.

Gunston tried all night. Just didn't go right for him. Mitchell, Shiela and Bigboy were SUPERB in an undermanned midfield. Smith and Henderson also excellent.

Roughy needs to play in the middle/2nd ruck from now on. He still is fanatical at the ball and man. He can't jump for shit so the forwardline is a big NO NO.

We won't win another gf until we have a 30 year draught and the AFL wants us to win one.
Love a good conspiracy!

Agree with some that a few senior guys had very ordinary nights.

Given their midfield depth we would've been stretched even if JOM had played, without him we get what we saw.

Dees just too good - we fought hard and some easy misses hurt but that’s football.

Proud of where we finished this year - beat some quality sides so can see the future won’t be as bad as predicted but we do need to find us some more mids as Melbourne seemed to have 20 of them tonight.

Don’t think those umps will be doing a grand final - both sides copped some bizzare decisions and at crucial moments.

Good luck to the Dees - I’m on their bandwagon and I hope they can do it for Daniher

We need speed in the midfield and across half back. I’d kill to have a player like Wingard or Shiel.
