All is happening as it should.

Port Adelaide needed to re-sign it's future talent, and they did.

They needed to bring in quality ruck stocks and some size in the midfield, and they did.

The club HAD to win at Adelaide Oval and use it as an ongoing marketing exercise, and they did.

And I seriously believe they were always going for Wingard. Home grown product with heaps of talent that will never provide the distraction of the "go home" factor.

All good on our side of Port Rd.

I don't get why we would draft Blee and have Salter re-signed for two years.

Ultimately i don't reckon we can come out of this offseason saying we have filled any major needs for our side, but given the qualities of this draft perhaps that wasn't overly likely anyway.

It certainly has done nothing to settle the dispute of `centre square midfielder vs KPP' that went on all year (and most years), because for another year its gone unaddressed.

I agree, but, if Salter has been signed for a further 2 years play the bloke as a forward .. stop trying to make a goal kicking forward our designated kicker .. it just doesn't work. We did the same last year with Chad .. played all his life in the backlines and at the age of 30 want him to reinvent himself as a forward. Let Kane do what he is good at .. TAG ... every team in the competition has a tagger, he will never be a wingman / half back as his overall foot skills, speed and agility will not allow it. I know coaches nowadays require players to be versatile but they should not expect these older proven one dimensional players to all of a sudden become something their not.

Chad started his career in the forward lines, I think it was in 2003/04?? that he moved into the backlines with great effect.

I remember a maggies v bays game at alberton and Chad playing CHF and the port supporters not sure whether to abuse him or not as he was a bays player but also in his 1st year on the Power list.

Wingard was the key get. I wonder whether GWS let him go because they were worried about homesickness? They grabbed every Vic midfielder they could lay their hands on. Maybe they figured they would stick together better as a group.

Anyway despite all the fears of many here we landed the Chad and that was the big get. He was the cake, picks 45 and 51 in a draft like this are icing.
...

Wouldn't surprise me if GWS went for all the Vic's to place them in a good barging position to trade with the dominant Vic teams I the coming years.

Happy with our picks.

We dont need a tagger... Just players that are fit and desperate to defend... By all means, leave your man and go forward when the need is there, but they need to get back and defend wen required.

I think an increase in fitness, and concentrating on both sides of their game will be a massive bonus. If the players are too lazy to do this, then get rid of them
