So with Lake and Hall secured, what's left?

Is there not an AFL imposed minimum in the draft of 3 picks?????

I have a feeling this is so. Therefore don't be suprised if eagle (or another fringe player) gets delisted and then redrafted (like aints did with McQualter last year).

Yep, I'm sure you have to take a min of 3 players in the draft as well which means we have to delist or trade somebody else. We are also giving away pick 47 for Hall so at the moment all we have is pick 15, 31, 63. After taking on the min of 3 last year and a severely ageing list heading in to the draft onslaught that is the Gold Coast and then West Sydney we are really putting all our eggs in one basket.

I would rather keep our talented youth such as Everitt, O Keefe, Lynch etc on our list too. I am not advocating for them to be delisted or traded. But I do think we need at least three selections in this years draft. Otherwise we will end up with huge gaps in the future, given we only took three draftees last year. Unless we use the rookie list as a quasi draft.

So who do you suggest we get rid of to get this third selection?

2 picks + 1 rookie upgrade or 3 picks if not upgrading any rookies is the minimum.

You can upgrade more rookies if you wish, but only the first counts against the minimum 3 draft pick rule.(please correct me if I'm wrong TCD) This according to Vader, the Draft & Trading Board Mod.

Maths isn't my strong point. How many spots on the list do we have available given that BBB is on board and Picken will be upgraded from a rookie?

If we don't do anymore trades and sign up Reid, O'Keefe and Akermanis, we will have two spots on our list created by Skipper, O'Shea and Wight being delisted and Eagleton getting put onto the Vet list. Hall and Picken have also come onto our main list.

Hope i haven't confused you:p.

Edit: i confused myself. Thanks BulldogJoe for pointing out Welsh has retired.

This now leaves us with three picks.

Reid, O'Keefe, Johnson, Akermanis and Eagleton yet to be signed.

Hall and Picken added to the main list and Eagleton will go onto the Vet list.

Wight, Skipper and O'Shea have been delisted.

If we do not participate any further in trade week, that will leave us with two selections in the draft(if we re-sign all of the above players).

Add the retirement of Welsh.

So
Hall replaces Welsh
Eagleton to vets allows Picken upgrade
Wight, Skipper and O'Shea gone to provide 3 spots for the draft at a minimum. We could see further delistings etc. to open up further spots.

They obviously have someone in mind for a late pick or would not have been chasing the Sydney 4th round upgrade that is included in the Hall trade.

Majak Daw(fingers crossed).

Wight
O'Shea
Skipper
Welsh

Picken
Hall
Pick 1
Pick 2

I suspect more action from the way Fantasia was speaking today. Like most clubs we are waiting for the big trades to get out of the way. Eagle, Everitt, O'Keefe would be twitchy.

Trade Everitt to St. Kilda for their first round pick.
Said first rounder + GOK to Geelong for Stokes?

I hate making up trades, but does that seem plausible enough?

Saints already got rid of their first rounder in the lovett trade and stokes is not worth a first rounder.

Here's hoping we keep the list intact, if skinny is traded I hope we make it worthwhile.

Forgot about the Lovett Deal. Oh well. Maybe they could ontrade the pick they get for Ball? No matter.

What would Stokes give us? The small crumbing forward that we've been looking for that would add an extra dimension to our forward line?

I take it you don't like Stokes, that's fine. Personally I think he's shown more than Everitt and certainly has a better work ethic. One could also ask what would Lovett give us? Personally I don't rate Lovett highly at all.

Just a difference of opinion I guess...no need to be rude though pal.

If there are any more trades it is likely this will be to free salary cap space. That means a contracted player on more than base just for a pick or someone who will be just for depth.

The player payment situation means we cannot afford anyone that is expecting more than base payments.

I hope Eagleton and Aker play on. Both got 1 more year and them and its time 4 them 2 go. Johhno it depends. He could have have 1 or 2 left in him. I honestly think 1 more for him too.

So we've lost Wight, Skipper and O'shea? No big deal. Skipper was always fantastic in the VFL (thats why he won B&F) but when he came to AFL level, he was a spud. Wight was a flash in a pan. Was better off in the VFL. And as for O'Shea, i think he was unlucky. All his injuries set him bak plus it was hard 2 get into the seniors after them being so successful in 2009.

If we lose everitt, then so be it. He's defintely improving as a player but he too, just a flash in a pan. O'Keffe seems 2 be talent. Watched him a few times in the VFL on tv, and seems like his got talent. And as we've seen and heard, very unlucky 2 not get listed into the senior sides. Always emergency.

But im looking forward to the 2010 season. Really exciting to see both Lake and Hall sign up for us. Both gonna be dogs for their rest of their playing careers. We've got a good list and i think we've got wat it takes 2 make the grand final in 2010.

Good luck boys and i cant wait for the 2010 season!

GO DOGS!

As said in the http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...-3-of-trade-week/story-e6frf9jf-1225784149515

Brad Johnson will play on. Aker and Eagleton will sign too. Deals on Nicoski and Everitt still in the pipeline.

But then if you read http://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/season2009/news/newsarticle/tabid/4112/newsid/85819/default.aspx

It then states
"WESTERN Bulldogs captain Brad Johnson will be offered a one-year deal to play on in 2010, however, the fate of Jason Akermanis and Nathan Eagleton remains undecided."

Further more...

"There are still things that need to be ticked off. The rule of thumb is that you only offer one-year contracts once you get past 30, so that's what we're pitching."

"There's no actual timeframe to it, apart from having list lodgement completed before October 31. So we have time up our sleeve, but we'd like to get it finalised sooner rather than later."

"Akermanis, 32, and Eagleton, 30, have told the club they wish to play on next year."

It will be interesting to see what the final outcome is... so we all have to wait and see and hope for the best!

Good Luck Mighty Mighty Bulldogs!! :)
