But will the winner come on a 'dodgy decision' to save england face.

similar to France v Australia and England v somebody else around the same time

England 2 v. Greece 2 (when both of England's goals were from dodgy decisions).

What's the bet he starts him alongside Viduka just like with the Urugray games??

But why wouldn't you start him alongside Viduka? They play alongside each other each week at Leeds and have a good understanding of each other's games. They have combined on many occasions to worry opposition defences.

Farina doesn't need to experiment with something, because he knows you have a front two pairing who know how to play the role together. It's not as if the pairing hasn't worked before and he is still persisting with it.

That's true but Kewell has also started on the left wing, and IMO thas where is better suited as he can run at opposition defences and isn't playing too deep. Put Aloisi alongside Viduka with Kewell and Emerton on the wings for me.

He should be the starting keeper....he plays in the champions league and thats more than Schwarzer is doing!

Just because his team is doing better doesn't mean he is a better keeper. Schwarzer (as of a while ago and before the Villa game :() had the best save percentage in the league. He has been in Boros best 2 players for the year

I'm a big wrap for Agostino so it's dissappointing that things are going great for him at the moment though have heard that Aloisi is going well so IMO he should front with Viduka and have Kewell on left wing.

Should be a great match, though I think England will win 2-1, like to proven wrong though!

Good to see that Aussies are not only playing regualrly in the Premier League but also in the Primera Liga and Serie A with Aloisi, Bresciano, Kalac and Grella.

Didaluca is playing Champions League, you know Barca, AS Roma, ManU, Arsenal etc etc and they have qualified to the next round plus Ajax is second in the Dutch league by only 2pts, you don't advance that far if you are a crap keeper in a quality side?

I don't doubt Schwarzer's abilities and he will start because it's played in England and deserves his spot but Joey is the future in goals and come 2006, I think we know who will be 1st choice keeper?

Didaluca is actually Ajax's no.2, and i heard that when their Romanian no.1 keeper recovers from injury he will take over. This would then not amount for much game time for Joey, and i also heard that he is gonna leave Ajax at the end of the season probably due to such less opportunities. Having said all this i would start Didaluca to see how he goes as i think Farina should give a chance to or even start the likes of Dida, Grella, Bresciano as they would be the future Socceroos side.

Leeds boss Terry Venables insists that Socceroos trump card Harry Kewell will not link up with the Australian team for the friendly against England at Upton Park due to injury.

"It's a club rule where if they're not fit on the Saturday they don't play international football," Venables said on the club's official website.

"It's always going to be a difficult one, especially for Australia because Harry rarely gets to play for them, but we had to see how they go."

Venables' comments will not please Socceroos boss Frank Farina who has asked for the opportunity to assess Kewell's injury himself before a decision is taken.

"I expect him to join our pre-game training camp on Sunday and then we'll see," Farina said.

The Australians are expected to invoke a FIFA ruling that forces Leeds to release Kewell to join the national team camp, at which stage his fitness will be assessed by the medical staff.

It will then be left to Farina and Kewell to decide whether or not he lines-up against England.

Kewell has not played since February 1 and missed Leeds' 1-0 win over West Ham at Elland Road that ended a run of four Premiership games without a win.

Venables also confirmed that Alan Smith was unfit to join the England camp.

Smith has been out for the last few days with a chest infection while Kewell failed a late fitness test ahead of the West Ham match on a tight hamstring injury.

"Harry had a fitness test, but the physio (Dave Han****) felt it was a bit of a risk if he played," Venables said.

"If he had and he went over then he could have been out for another four to six weeks and I wasn't prepared to take that risk.

"It's not like this is a surprise (to Australia) because he has not played in our last two games now. We are consistent because Smith is not going to go either."

What does such a stat say about the defence in front of him? Statsitics can be bent to suit any argument, just ask Dan.

I've said it before, but I remain unconvinced about Schwarzer at international level. At club level, no problem. We have options available to us, such as Didulica (Ajax), Kalac (Perugia), and Juric (Leverkusen). I would like to see at least one of these guys get a run for a change.

I still think Harry will turn up to training and do his best to play in the game because all reports suggest he is really keen be a part of the match. I can't imagine Leeds having any power to stop him playing. Harry would know the risks and would be prepared to pay the price if he injures the hammy even more.

**** off El Tel. Leeds are f*cked this season anyway. (And im a Leeds fan!)

And El Tel said,
"It's a club rule where if they're not fit on the Saturday they don't play international football," Venables said on the club's official website."

It's a club rule? You have only been around for 2 seconds! And you won't even make it to 3!

Go for your life Harry!

Yeah, I'd grudgingly accept Leeds' decision if they were still in contention for the Title or spots in Europe next season but since their season is effectively over, what harm could it do to have Kewell play one match (his first in 15 months!) for Australia, provided he's fit of course.

Hopefully, he'll play regardless of Venables' constanation.

Schwarzer is in the best form of his career, has been Boros second best player this season, has been in the best handful of keepers in the league this season, when playing for Australia has never done anything to suggest he isn't up to the level, has been number one in a mainly premier league side for 8 years and near on 300 games.

Diduluca is a back up keeper who didn't even start overnight against Feynernoord.

Schwarzer spent years waiting for his turn behind Bosnich and has earnt his spot as our number one keeper

My side:

Schwarzer

Neil Popovic Moore Vidmar

Okon

Bresciano Grella Kewell

Aloisi Viduka

PS. Emerton not to get another cap until he stops his BS backheels.

...and this was the same rhetoric I got last time

Turn your club bias off a moment, and read what I wrote. I said I would like another keeper to get a run. I don't see where I have called for Schwarzer's head, or to be banished forever from the national team  I will watch his performance with interest though.

Keep in mind he is already 30 years old, sure keepers generally have more longevity than outfield players but I would not expect him to be running around for Australia after the 2006 World Cup. We need to find options, hell I would imagine we don't even have a confirmed backup keeper out of the remaining lot. This would be a good opportunity to find out who is up for it.

Glad I'm not the only one who has noticed Emertron's mindless obsession with backheels. Has one of them ever come off in an international? They must be working ok for Feyenoord however!

It isn't all over yet Nick. The FA Cup is still there and I am quietly confident we can have a real dip at winning it.

I am behind El Tel. He deserves credit for what he has had to put up with since he took over. Players been sold, financial problems, injuries etc. The team are playing for him and there are signs we are heading in the right direction. He has kept the side together during crisis after crisis.

True mate,
I was just p*ssed at him trying to hold on to Harry for the England match.

Yes, what a bunch of plodding hacks! :D

Emerton's first 25 minutes was woeful, I had almost given up on him.

But he really stepped up in teh 2nd half, which was vital after Kewell and Chipperfield were subbed and Lazar clearly tired as the match went on.

He still seems a little down on confidence- he can run at defences well, he should do it a bit more rather than trying a Veron-like ball across midfield.

But he is young, and a good player.
