I like it that Lana Del Ray can call her new album Nelson ****ing Rockwell but the pr0n musicians have to call themselves the mother funkers .

I reckon it works better when we don't try to preempt the results and let everyone know which songs we're voting for.
Y'know.. Keep some element of surprise for Wednesday 10pm

[excitable Tigers fans always getting ahead of themselves]
So the complete opposite of the original spirit of the contest.

Haven't listened to the list, expressing my love for John Hiatt. And I was (shockingly) drunk.

No botes guaranteed,

You mean El Dubya’s
initial competitive guidelines which nobody ever played...?

We see it from time to time when people slag off one of the nominated bands.

Or like in Harvey’s recent “pop with rap verse” round when Chappy used reverse psychology and said “Why don’t we just declare Deee-lite the winner and move into the next round”. He probably cost me at least 10 votes with that subtle whore-nom call out.

I was miles off the pace anyway... which is always the case when people declare their favourites as the likely winner.

Different times indeed.
I did my apprenticeship at the Naval Dockyads Williamstown, started 1981 and I worked on the Dockyard modernisation, getting it ready for building the new US designed destroyer escorts. The workshops were not too different. Old guys that had worked ther all their live, smoking rollies. williamstown back then was a town of pubs. At lunch as an apprentice each Friday we went to "a pub". either cheap beer, strippers or for us group of younguns it was the Britannia Hotel. The Brit was run and owned by an old girl Yvonne. Just a pub really, the models film clip Barbados pub scenes were filmed there.

Unions were strong, every Friday we would be at the pub by lunchtime....then came economy, efficiency and more money for ???

Wasn't that the filmclip that had some dodgy criminal in it too?

Dunno. They used to film a lot of stuff down that way back then. I remember a car chase being filmed across from the Brit, it was over the train line waste land back then. there were lots of crims working at the dockyard, you just stayed clear be polite etc. another pub the Oriental was were the painters and dockers hung out. There was a guy who sat at the corner of the bar next to a wall phone. no mobiles then bun then this wall phone would ring constantly and he would scribble on a notepad.

Simpler times he was a bookie, pub involved too. You can't ban gambling or prostitution, always goona happen.

I'm pretty sure it was Chappy that did the same with my Pink Floyd nom a few rounds ago. Not saying it would have won but it made certain it didn't. It should be up to each person to not vote for a song if they think it's a whore. Not basically be instructed not to vote for it.

And Chappy's done it again to two songs this round. Giving them my 5 and 4 now.

Well I'm giving them 1 and 2 to balance all this out.

I don't remember saying not to vote for Pink Floyd.

You forced us (even paying us in "favours") to Billy PF if I can remember correctly.

Red Red Wine - yes, but not Pink Floyd. I might have said it was a massive over-nommed whore but that's it.
