Why must we always have these contrived themes?

Occasionally we have an interesting theme which leads to good playlist, songs from left field, or with most people voting with the theme in mind and rewarding those who play along best with the theme

But most of the time, the theme doesn’t mean shit. It’s just a mechanism which reduces people’s potential noms from 100,000 to 100
