The most obvious answer I can think of is Peter Gabriel, "Mercy Street", the long version. But I'm sure there are others. Anyone else? Does anyone else know the song I am talking about?

A very reflective Sbagman.

Radiohead - Creep

Coldplay - Yellow

The first one is actually my favorite song of all time, but last year i wrote some of the lyrics in a love letter to a chick who rejected me...and I couldn't listen to it for months.

One morning I woke up and heard it on the radio, and it didn't affect me. So I consider that as whenI got over her.

Yellow was me and my ex's song (the one who moved to Queensland):(, so I am always sad when I hear that.

"We've got the Power to win" does it for me every time.

We'll never STOP STOP STOP til we're TOP TOP TOP
It's history here in the making
Port Power to WIN we'll never GIVE IN
Til the flag is OURS for the taking.

Now...i'd be really concerned with the top and bottom two lines. So Port won't STOP til they're TOP...and when the FLAG is theirs for the taking....they give in?

That's how i read it!!

How could won get fired up with THAT song??

Love Works - Graeme Connors

Mrs Turner lives in a 12th floor apartment in the heart of the city,
surrounded by high-rise that block out the sunlight for most of the day.
But on a small balcony she tends a garden where the flowers grow perfectly in the grey,
And when people ask how she does it, all Mrs Turner will say ...

"Is love works
in the midst of all this
Love works
Each day, I tell my flowers I love them.
And love works
in the midst of all this love works
They hear and they grow
'cause even the flowers know
Love works"

Mrs Turner keeps a life-size portrait of her husband William,
a brave young soldier who failed to return from the Second World War.
And each night she sits and knits, and talks to him
as if he just walked through the door.
And when people ask why she does it, Mrs Turner says "'Cause I'm sure ...

That love works
In the midst of all this
Love works.
Each day, I tell my Bill that I love him
Cause love works
in the midst of all this love works
He hears, I know
And he's with me wherever I go
Because love works."

And every morning Mrs Turner
takes a short walk to the corner
To say a prayer and light a candle at St Pauls
With bunch of fresh cut flowers
and the memory of her William,
she's a beautiful example to us all ...

Of how love works
In the midst of all this
Love works.
Each day, somewhere a prayer is answered
And love works
in the midst of all this love works.
God hears, and it shows
In ways we may never know,
Love works.

So you wrote "I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo" and she rejected you? ;)

LOL...noooooooooo!

More like...

"When you were here before, couldn;t look you in the eye
You're just like an angel, your skin makes me cry.
You float like a feather, in a beautiful world...
You're so ****ing special, I wish I was special..."

and that song by .. i think it's mr. big... i dunno the name.. hold on little girl or something.. someone help me out, lol i know all the words but not the name of the song.. doesn't help much hehe.. but yeah those two

I think some of you chaps are getting off the track a bit; the question asked which song for sentimental not cringeable reasons make you cry.

For me it will always be Van Morrison's "Carrying a torch"

"I'm carrying a torch for you,
I'm carrying a torch.

You know how much it costs,
to keep carrying a torch.

Flame of love it burns so bright,
be it my desire.
Keep on lifting me, lifting me up,
higher than higher.

You're the keeper of the flame,
and you burn so bright.
Why don't we re-connect,
move into the light."

and sundry other verses in a similar vein.

God, my eyes are getting misty as we speak.

Memories, memories see me through.

Another one that often gets me is Marvin Gayes "Lets get it on"
