Just going to assume Freddy gets up, but Walters and Noddy don't. Obviously hope Sonny does, but I can't see JL playing Noddy with no pre season games unfortunately.

Ryan Pearce Young
Clark Cox Chapman
Aish Brayshaw Henry
Freddy Fyfe Switta
Schultz Tabs Jackson

Darcy Serong JOM

Brodie, Walker, Sturt, Treacy

Sub - Flip a coin between Hughes and Banfield, I'll say Hughes

Ryan - Cox - Chapman
Young - Pearce - Clark
Henry - Serong - Aish
Frederick - Jackson - Fyfe
Schultz - Tabs - Switkowski

Darcy - Brayshaw - Brodie

Walters - Treacy - JOM - Sturt

Sub: Johnson/Hughes/Wilson/Walker

Probably a defender short, but the madly optimistic part of my brain likes the idea of loading up on forwards and using the tactical sub to supplement the backline if needed.

Are forward and ruck the only positions for Jackson?

Is Fyfe now a full time forward (apart from a break glass in case of emergency situation).

If we're going for a taller forward set up having alternative positions is pretty handy. Otherwise Taberner, Fyfe and Jackson should be the standard set up.

I also don't buy the 'Fyfe isn't really a tall' comments. I mean he may be a tweener but less so than Corbett who is talked about as a KPF.

Don’t reckon Walters will get up.

Sturt the Sub (if Freddy doesn’t get up then Sturt is in).

Hughes and Walker (I like Wilson personally) on the pine.

My first time in Melbourne will be for this game!

I have $1000 on us at 1.80. The Melbourne footy trip will either be much cheaper then it should have been or be a real sad trip home lol.

Absoloutly pumped. I love Ross though, really wish he wasn't their coach.

The first time we played them last year king hammered us and won them the game. The second time we played then the only thing that kept them in the game was Ryder dominating the center bounces. Both of those players aren't playing.

Hayes is injured. Membrey being rushed back. Their talls are cooked, Cox and Pearce will have a field day. The classy Billings is out as well as Zak Jones. See Ross and Windhager unlikely.

We should give them a touch up, but I'll take a 1 point win. Pumped.

Bro, that is bold. I'm too invested into Freo's results that betting doesn't haven't an effect (it's not worth the double dissapointment). Fingers crossed we get the result and you go home happy. Enjoy the trip!

Ryan Pearce Young
Clark Cox Chapman
Aish Brayshaw Henry
Freddy Treacy Sturt
Schultz Tabs Fyfe

Darcy Serong Brodie

JOM, Walker, Jackson, Switta

Super sub: Banfield

Unlucky: Hughes, though I suspect he’s first in if Ryan doesn’t get up.

Both Frederick and Sturt can rotate through the wing to cover the 3rd winger. Switkowski and Jackson rotate through mid/ruck and forward.

Walker gets the nod over Wilson purely because he’s a better lock down defender for Higgins, with the saints lack of talls, he’s their biggest threat up forward.

Banfield is versatile if we lose a forward or mid to injury, likewise as a tactical sub we could remove a tall forward and inject him at 3/4 time to give the forward line a different look.

Johnson, Erasmus to press their case at peel.

This becomes a lot harder once Walters and NOD come back.

Thought I would share with you guys that I was able to go to the club this week, get a tour from Simon garlic, then have lunch with he, JL and haze. Great experience. Garlic is such a likable guy, and so passionate about freo. The club is in great hands.
Weren’t there whispers of him being in the running for the AFL job?

The kind of headaches coaches want....more pressure for spots ramps up the players need to be amazeballs to keep their spot. Tis a good thing!! :D

Maybe Wilson can come in, leaving Hughes to be sub and removing Banfield from that if Ryan isn't available.

Was thinking we are missing that power-dynamic midfield presence that every flag team seems to have. And then remembered we recruited Luke Jackson. So we’re all good

Giving him spurts through their would solve some forward headaches as well. I hope the coaches have it in their plans, disappointed we didn’t get to see him play against Port

Yes, which is weird given we played finals. And I guess we have been having fewer kebab incidents to distract us.

I reckon it is because we played finals is why it feels longer; we are all excited and hoping to the make the next step (probably only to be overtaken by other clubs).

Geez you would have been a game man putting both Sturt and Treacy in the team before Amiss at the start of the year. It’s starting to look like this could be possible though.
