Everything else about the competition has long since become proffesional, from the players of course to the coaching set ups and the sports science behind player management through to all the media and social programs these days. Its not like say a pool of 15 proffesional Field umps even at 200k a year would put much of a dent in the AFL flush with new rights cash.

Then again there could be certain programs behinds the scenes to train the umpires etc but they arent having a good year if this is the case.

We just started getting our hands on the ball around the ground and you could see momentum changed a bit.

Only problem is we are being murdered in the stoppages

Things I've noted:

- Waters is making our backline seem clumsy, needs time to adjust I suppose.
- Naitanui will be the best player on our list as he peaks.
- Kennedy is not top 10 on our list, as many suggest. If he is even close to peaking then we need to hit the draft again.
- Gaff and Shuey both playing better than I expected.
- Saints making us look amateur. 2010 Eagles are back in town.
- Decision making, general footskills, intensity and clumsy shit like running into each other and not after the ball is killing us.
- Press is non-existent, getting it out of their back half too easy.
- Many passengers tonight, too many to name.
- Contested ball is SHIT tonight. Missing Kerr, Stevens should play in the guts when he comes on.
- Umpiring at times has been borderline-cheating.

Seeing as our 1st quarters are usually 1st class and that was just awful, im hoping we have an amazing 3rd quarter or else i dont see us winning.

Good quarter, I mean, we were absolutely destroyed by the umpires, and we managed to claw back a few goals.

Gaffy kicking us into gear, Naita taking a bunch of contested marks. Hurn's a class act, jesus.

Im happy pulling back 17. Umpires have generally been good. 1 or 2 awful decisions but no way should we blame them at all.

What game are you watching? I don't like making excuses but the umpiring so far been absolutely atrocious.

Just popped over to say that your boys are getting a shocking run from the umps. Some disgraceful umpiring and you realy have to despair when you see some of the shocking decisions being made.

Anyway your boys are starting to get into it a bit now and if they can maintain that it should be a good second half.

umpires have been quite annoying, yes.

i feel we've been fairly flat, but we've been unlucky with the bounce of the ball on numerous occasions.

waters started poo, then came into it a bit. even glass is having a poor one, he'll lift in the second half.

nicnat's marking has been the highlight. 4 strong pack marks, well done!

we just have to stick at it, they wont score too heavily i would've thought.

Gaff looked a little out of place in parts of the first quarter, but he's running hard and linking up well. had a great second quarter.

Priddis has to lift, the lack of kerr has put all the pressure on him and jones is having the better of him.

im pretty keen to get Stevens in the game this quarter, need some midfield grunt.

just have to get within 2-3 goals at 3 qtr time...

those doubting JK need to look at what he has to deal with. he's going up into packs with 5 players in there. he missed an easy goal, but besides that he's toiled bloody hard. the goals will come.

The double standards in those 'in the back' frees has been woeful. Kennedy and Shuey and Gaff all got driven into the turf with no free that quarter.

Hopefully we can claw back a little more this quarter and make a real go of it. If its a neutral quarter it may not be enough.
