If Rey dIed why didnt she become a force ghost?
they have an answer for everything, bastards (shakes fist)

Probably because the only people we've seen become full-on Force ghosts (with disappearing body) either had training to do so, or are a Skywalker.

She had no training before and can do everything else like Mind Powers, Force Healing, etc so still a bit of a head scratcher there. Dont worry i know the real answer is Disney have very loose continuity/lore.

with all the advanced FX tech that Disney have, de-aging, rotoscoping, etc, heres hoping they wipe the ST from canon and re-make the ST. They dont even need to re-hire the new actors, got tons of film of them already.

Interesting take but there's another reason this trilogy might be the blessing in disguise for the future of Star Wars. We know now that they're listening to the fans; we know they're sensitive to feedback and backlash. They knew how polarising TLJ was and they tried to salvage it. I think they made a pretty good fist of it, but out of all the mistakes they made, killing Luke in 8 and not giving Leia an epic send-off and funeral in 8 were the biggest two ones they couldn't fix.

There was no going back after that, but there's always a way forward. They would undoubtedly know that despite how divided fans are, 99% of us all agree that this new trilogy needed to be planned thoroughly from the start because it wasn't. The light at the end of the tunnel is that if they ever decide to make a new trilogy, surely it'll have more planning ahead than this one did. In other words, whatever we get should be better than their "phase 1" has been... in theory.
Its too late, they have gone off the deep end with the capabilities of the force, there is no going back.

Ben died to save power on a bacta tank.
She had learned a lot of Force powers from reading the sacred texts as well as from reading Ben’s mind, and likely some stuff Leia taught her. However she wasn’t a full Jedi yet as she had not created her own lightsaber. She had not learned how to become one with the force yet. Remember that QuiGon also did not vanish.

This is two movies.

The first is the movie JJ wanted to make, his Star Wars.
The second is the movie he had to make, to tie things up.

I think he didn't get the run at it he wanted in TFA and was likely under instruction from above to recapture the OT so that's what we got.
It will all come out eventually...JJ doesn’t strike me as one to say nothing

I think it’s because she has all the books from the cave.

Apologies, once more, but after imdb kept pushing me to improve my review, re-edit and re-edit, here it is on reddit again re-updated...

Great review. To me, especially about the Marvel like characteristics of more recent movies. Luke turning off the targeting computer is using the Force. Getting a light sabre out of the snow takes all his effort. A 900 year old Jedi master alone can lift an X-wing out of a swamp. That is the limits of the force. I don’t like superhero movies except Christopher Reeves old superman. Marvel movies are visually and musically jarring with modern Disney morality. I love Star Wars because I love Westerns, WWII, Arthurian legend mythology, with there Celtic/Druid and Christian underpinnings and even Samurai. The use of the force seems so over the top now. The morality is too modern PC which will be so passé in a generation. Ancient mythos is timeless. Annikin would have really helped this movie, oh well.. we’ll never know.
Rating a little harsh for a normal movie, I’d still give it an 8 or 9 for a normal movie but a 6.5 for a Star Wars. Thanks GG.

thanks for the feedback. and youre so on point about how the force was more subtle in the OT/PT even. it took all their energy to do things before that now can be done effortlessly. disney turning sw into a fantasy genre rather than a western space opera.

To stay back and help out at the Rebel base

Doing what?

Sorry but you're never going to convince me that your dislike of that character is genuine if you think she was used correctly in this movie.

That scene at the end of ROTS suggested to become “one with the force” requires training etc (Yoda telling Obi-Wan that he’d teach him). So was a bit surprising to see Ben go straight from a kiss to vanishing.

I actually wanted him to live. It’s a bit sad to think Han, Leia and their son have all died this trilogy.

I guess Luke could have trained him.

Sidenote, did anyone realise per the new Kylo comic that Kylo didn't actually kill any of Luke's students..
