Had full theatres for both TROS sessions so far, going again Saturday. Nothing beats TFA other than EndGame for traffic volume.

I saw "Yesterday" about three weeks after it came out and the session was sold out lol.

In the context of just the movies, I've seen people say he is pretty bland and boring. I'd be inclined to agree.

He's a background character with about 3 lines, I'm surprised people say anything either way about him beyond "He looks cool"

Regardless, was a weird comment to make when the comments about Rose definitely stray into attacks on the actor, as did the comments about Jar Jar and young Anakin.

Boba Fett appeared in the infamous 1978 Star Wars Christmas special... lots of people were very excited about this cool looking new character and waited two years in eager anticipation and excitement ultimately for a background character with about 3 lines.

Ironic that the widely agreed best film in the series was really the first to disappoint and let people down...

20% down on TLJ. Poor word of mouth.

At some point, people are going to realise that the general movie public liked TLJ better than ROS. If Disney wanted an endorsement for the new Rian Johnson trilogy, they will have no better advertising campaign than the Rise of Skywalker.
Or TLJ/Solo turned so many off the franchise and weren't convinced by trailers to give it another shot.

Box office is a bit under expectations but the next few days will tell the story. When TLJ came out, there was still almost a week of work before Christmas, so it did big numbers on the first weekend, dropped sharply, then rose sharply when holidays kicked in. TROS runs straight into holidays for most so it’s possible families will go see it this week rather than that first weekend. If it sees a regular drop, then it’s not going to be a breakout hit. If it holds stronger than usual, then it may end up having decent legs.

A certain, sizeable portion of the fan base (yet still the minority when it came to the total audience) went around telling everyone they were shit if they liked TLJ.

This movie is going to do poorly in comparison to TLJ because the general audience hates the fact that Disney pandered to these types instead of just making a good movie and telling the story they wanted to tell.

No one respects a suck up.

Such a conclusive statement you’ve made there, I take it you’ve spoken to everyone who is in the “general audience” category to support your claim? :D

Lol I wouldn't be, but I am glad you've come round to this shmazzole of a trilogy having you see the prequels in a better light.

What do you mean? I'm not jack..

So prior to TROS you still had prequels above these?

Yes?

Merry Christmas. Weird argument to be having.

Happy to see something new and different just not a part of the Skywalker saga

Same, I guess with the skywalker linage gone they won’t have that silly prophecy hanging around so if they do move forward into the future they can have something new. Though I do hope they do something wayyyy before the movies instead of the future.

I wasn't aware. Merry Christmas. I had thought that TROS was the one that pushed you over that edge.

The more people who come back to that and who are critical of Disney's amateur and disrespectful management of this property the better.

The Mandalorian is a good start so there is hope I think a TV series format suits Star Wars better.

With a TV series you have room for character/story growth where in a movie you only have 2 hours. Then if Lucasfilm want they can make a stand alone movie about that character.

Not sure what you find so funny, bomberboy. It just did a very healthy $30m Monday, a drop of just 27 per cent. This compares to TFA (33 per cent) and TLJ (58 per cent on a school day). There’s no doubt the fact it rolls straight into holidays means it won’t be loaded to each weekend. There’s also no real blockbuster competition, which means it may make extra coin from being a safe, easy choice during the holidays.

Its biggest threat from now is word of mouth. It’s got a lower critical and audience score than previous films.

Anyway, I’m not a fan but I hope it makes enough money not to derail more movies (though not too much that every future movie is a bland, inconsequential knock-off:p).

A problem with tros was that they devoted time to changing what had been done in the previous 2 movies and so spent time re developing characters for the new direction. they should have just made Kylo th villain instead of reviving Palpatine, should have left Chewie dead and not had the thing where the knife was a physical map of where the triangle thingy was. If they didn't do those things they probably save half an hour of the movie and can pace it better and have more character development time.
