Luceno has written two, Zahn, Golden and Jackson Miller one each. Wendig is the only truly new author, I think.

And Claudia Grey who has been great. Also the guy who wrote the Battlefront book and the Rogue One novelisation. He was ok but doesn't capture the tone of Star Wars. So 1/3 of the new authors I suppose.

Which one has Miller written?

Forgot Battlefront and don't read the novelisations. Miller wrote New Dawn, a prequel to Rebels. Was better than it should have been, given I gave up after season 1 of Rebels.

Ah yep. And pity, Rebels significantly improves towards the tail end of Season 2 onwards.

Yeah the TFA novelisation was horrendous. I get the symbolism of getting the ANH author back, but it was so painful.

He wrote Splinter of the minds eye and TFA novelization yes/no?

But yes he's awful, but better than Wendig

We're talking Canon novels.

Despite all the negatives of Chuck Wrndig's Aftermath, Mister Bones is a most inspired character creation. Easily my favorite star wars character.

Seriously?

He's horrendous.

I guess I'm very different to you (or most people) and like very different things ?? :p
He's a literal deus ex machina who when he gets destroyed is simply put back together until the end. I found him written poorly and not funny at all, and in an attempt to redeem battle droids just made them worse.

It's true all that you say. No argument. Just outside of that, as a character idea it's pretty cool.

Because I don't think it's actually 'confirmed'. Seemed the obvious choice, would have been better if they didn't have the Han Solo movie as well. They are going back to the familiar too often. One of those moies (the Solo one) should have been an original idea.

They will milk a movie out of all the original characters before they make something new.

Far be it from me to tell Disney how to do business, but right now, the name Star Wars will put bums in seats. Now is the time to establish some original properties that will extend their storytelling potential (sure, do it in between some familiar stories). Han Solo should have been held in the back pocket in case the movies started floundering, as it would renew interest.

Quoting someone else's post from TJC Forums....

Finished Empire's End a few weeks ago. I wanted to make mention of how fitting it was
for the Emperor to create a kill switch on the Empire so that if for whatever reason he was deposed, no one could rise up and rule in his place. Very fitting given how he ruled the Empire, always pitting his top people against each other.
I also really enjoyed the Emperor's celestial stations and his push to explore the unknown regions. I thought this was handled well, as they didn't give much away or go into detail, but it is very fitting for the character.

The battle of Jakku provides a realistic explanation for how the Empire could collapse so quickly after Endor. I'm sure there were some warlord factions and I hope these get elaborated on, but having the majority of imperial forces essentially self-destruct makes the New Republic's early success more believable.
