Think zahn does well. Hopefully the new thrawn book is good
Forgot him. Yeah he does. First Thrawn felt like a rebels tie in though so hopefully this one feels more full fledged.

I'm currently reading From a Certain Point of View, which is great, and nice range of authors. Seems a good way to vet new authors and plot possibilities.

I started the first thrawn novel last night but the fact the one out in 6 days has thrawn/Anakin team up has me intrigued. Was the phasma or Ahsoka books any good or just skip?

Ahsoka was OK but not a must read, and I've heard phasma is trash so I haven't bothered.

I enjoyed the tie in novel to the battlefront2 game

But dark disciple was trash

Yeah that's also on my to-read list.

Yeah agreed, surprised so many talk it up.

Yep, the characterisations were awful.

finished thrawn i didn't mind it nice set up sending his mate to the chiss. wouldn't mind them coming into the story more. started ahsoka after it and for the most part its fine it drags in some areas but i would of loved to see this story animated

I don't get the hate on Resistance.

I like the look. But then again, I grew up on Robotech etc. So I don't see it as too cartoony.

Looks better than TLJ at any rate.

What's the deal with the RJ trilogy.

Rumours flying around that it's been stopped?

Rogue One art director Neil Lamont, had been involved with preparing the expected next series of movies, including the Obi-Wan spin-off.

Lamont told Cinemablend this week that work on the next generation Lucasfilm projects had begun before Disney suddenly called amajor halt.

He said: “We were just starting our work on another Star Wars spinoff and yeah. We were actually just making our mark on Tatooine, which would have been interesting, and some other new galaxies.”

"Other galaxies" being interpreted as RJs work. Surely all guff, right?

Disney put a stop/hold on all SW movie projects while they figure out their next front office steps. As in, new president of Lucasfilm, who can pitch them new ideas to get SW back on top.

Too light-hearted and kiddy

No issue with that.

Anime can get pretty intense even looking like a unicorn's wet dream.

Although, yes I suspect this isn't aimed at adults as a crossover show that everyone is supposed to watch.

That said the DC toons are the same, and they're actually quite excellent.

There's just too much goofery going on, jokes and light-hearted lines. I don't mind the content or the style of animation. But TCW and Rebels thruout 1st season were far more "darker", serious in tone, grave music, moments, sadness, etc. This show seems like it's all fun and laughter going on. Which kinda denigrates the whole era.

Needs juxtaposition or all you end up with is light hearted dot joining where people drop off about 7 eps in to a season. The trailer needed some inkling of some investment instead of simply purely going the funny 1990's comedy route starring Rob Schneider.

Buffy was pretty light for a bit, then turned into an angsty dirge in later seasons.

LOTR starts in Hobbiton.

But yes, I get your point.

FWIW check out this vid. Devastating.

And this show had a character who was basically a popstar in it singing songs half the series:

Watch "Zentraedi Bombardment" on YouTube

In that video too, interesting how Disney have altered Canon again....now saying that Sith lightsabers are red because they put their hate into it, making the kyber crystals "bleed", hence the red color.

That was established years ago.

I don't mind the tone or look of Resistance, and I'll check it out, but it probably won't be for me. Seems more down the Forces of Destiny style cartoon than anything meaningful.

Zahn is still the standout Star Wars writer. Thrawn: Alliances is easily the best of the new novels. Zahn simply has the ingredients down pat: an intriguing story in its own right, a story that links to established characters and events, while crafting his own lore.
