State of umpiring

Pies are a bit like the Lakers in the NBA, who have a ridiculously lopsided free throw advantage over many years. When game is close the AFL hype is around how great the Pies players are and how good their comebacks are. It is definitely a thing that the umpires are caught up in too. I can tell you for a fact that other clubs are commenting on it.

Yet the same set of umpires interpreted LDU slipping on his backside and hand balling it away as holding the ball.

How the same set of umpires could all see that as holding the ball, yet let legitimate holding the ball scenarios go, is the real question that has to be asked.

It’s selective umpiring bias. Anyone that doesn’t think these guys umpire without bias, has their head in the sand.

The non 50 metre decision was living proof of it. It’s a close game and the Collingwood fans will go crazy if I pay that, so surprise surprise no call.

They even have time to make the call and stop play and award the 50 yet choose to let the game roll on.

It’s a tough way to lose a game of footy when the umpires interject themselves into the contest like they did after half time.

Yes a good side would probably be able to overcome it, but this is a young group, that is still learning how to win.

The scoreboard says Collingwood won the game, but let’s be honest there is a massive * on that result based on what transpired after half time.

Let’s hope the boys build off it and it doesn’t destroy their confidence, because in the eyes of the majority of footy fans they were ripped off from what would have been a great win for this group.
But it would have been horrible for the AFL, the bottom side beating one of their lovechilds. I wouldn't go as far as to say it was the reason we lost, we still could've and probably should've won the game - it wouldn't have been the 10 goal win that it was looking like, but still a win, but the umpiring at times was a bit bewildering, especially when they got the run on.

Wow. Just wow. That "explanation" may be the greatest load of convoluted garbage
I have heard, from an organisation that specialises in them.
Just to be clear, it wasn't a mistake not to pay the 50 because of the mistake in not calling stand? Is that right?

You can’t make up this shit LOL

In what world does he run inboard you gimp? He actually stops and motions to the umpire asking for the 50 metres.

So they have even stooped to making up shit to conceal what was a massive **** up?

Anyone think Laura is doing a good job? She’s one of the worst appointments we have seen in that role and there have been some shockers.

Let me guess she also said the review was inconclusive? LOL

Did anyone confirm her appointment with John Setka??

It's awesome to know Collingwood players now have free rein to anticipate umpires decisions before they're made.
It awesome to know that we now have a game where no decision is ever wrong, because some clown at AFL house will just make up some random shit to explain it away.

She actually tried to make it sound like the Collingwood players were disadvantaged and should have been able to tackle Scott LOL

So if an opposition player feels that the umpire SHOULD have called play on, they are allowed to run at the mark taker without penalty, because the umpire SHOULD have called play-on, even though he hasn’t called play on…..

And we just know that this exact same situation is going to result in a 50 metre penalty this week and THAT will be ticked off as the correct decision as well.

You have to laugh at the total contradictory statements she makes in everything she discussed.

Firstly Bailey Scott took 4 steps inboard, but the Collingwood players then correctly interpreted that the umpire should have blown the whistle to call play on LOL

When has an umpire even blown their whistle to call play on you lying corporate puppet?

Vision that was conclusive, now being explained as inconclusive WOW! What would have been conclusive, the ball ripping his hand off?

If you need any proof that this competition is a sham, then Laura just provided you with Exhibit A, Exhibit B threw a lot of dumb in there to cement it.

100%

Next time a player gets called for 50, he should say sorry ump I interpreted that he played on, so you better recall that LOL

It's an unbelievable response. Umpires make mistakes, fair enough. This was a gutless mistake because of the state of the game and the team we were playing, but lets leave that aside.

AFL had 24 hours to come up with a response to a mistake and came up with that? Get ****ed. Get absolutely ****ed.
