That's not a 50/50 in this context. That's a blatant mistake from the umpire and should've been either dropping the ball free kick or play on. 60/40 every day of the week but we would've accepted play on because the adjudication standards are so poor these days.

To make matters worse Carlton we’re awarded these free kicks to give them a scoring shot.

Have a look at the number of free kicks awarded to Carlton inside 50 which resulted in goals.

Curnow was awarded a number of free kicks that were 50/50 at best.

They didn’t get theb of the green, the 4 yellow maggots took it a step further and were fellating them.

I have never seen a player called for running too far after 9 steps, if anything they usually go the other way and let players run too far.

Clear attacking opportunity taken away by someone that was hellbent on influencing the game.

When it was paid against Cunners later on (which did result in a goal) it make this decision even worse.

I watched the replay today and the commentators tried to say he went for a don’t argue which is why it was prior opportunity but he had two to three players hanging off him the whole time.

Thankfully in Bay 35/36 on L2 yesterday I didn’t get any bad vibes from Carlton supporters even though there were quite a few there (but certainly more North people).

So the reserved seats on level 1 and 2 are member only areas and the home team has the rights to these seats.
AFL, Medallion Club, MCC and general admin non members can’t get access at all.

However for club members who are general admission members, once ticket sales were exhausted and there was demand for seats, the club at its own discretion can then make available to club members of both teams with general admission membership - the ability to upgrade and sit in those areas.

It is really annoying to be blaming umpires for influencing an outcome in a match, especially when the margin is more than a couple of kicks.

BUT...

The margin in yesterday's match was easily affected by bad umpiring decisions. The most obvious gifted Curnow most of his goals but also enabled a few others to Carlton and denied some opportunities for North.

IF...

That is the standard of umpiring that is acceptable to the AFL...

THEN...

An independent panel of stewards needs to be appointed to oversee every match and they must have real-time communication with on-field umps to intervene and overturn blatant "errors". It will interfere with the flow of the game but unless there is a better way of cleaning up the poor standard of umpiring then it has to happen to eliminate the farcical situation such as that which occurred on Friday. If AI umpires can be introduced instead then that is even better!
