Yep, some unlucky folk, Clarko was generally conservative and I feel Sam will go the same way. We have time. Ward seems the one to get a gig.
That video is great, Gunston sounds like his pretty excited for the season, I’d love to see him play for another 4 years and get another flag.

Read that Bruest got a knock to the head in a marking contest, was assessed for concussion and as part of the protocol will now sit out for 12 days. Hope he is ok and well. Nothing has been said about Newk’s injury …….. has anyone heard of an update on Newk? Really want him in for Rd1.

Wow, this must be one of/the best full squad list we have had in my recent memory! Not a sad sack or softy or charity case to be seen amongst this group - they all look like they could be players which I don’t recall ever being able to say in the past. Just missing a couple of genuine star KPP’s at this stage. We will be good again, it begins this year…

I see somewhat similar, but the bigger takeaway being on not letting the handball go too early and before facing real defensive pressure.
One of the things that has pissed me off the most in recent seasons is not just backwards handballing, but the in short give off while not under serious pressure that only draws the nearest oppositon defenders to the now more heavily under pressure Hawthorn player. Think hot potato until caught or a hacked/non directed kick forward.
I like seeing the purposeful intent to attempt to clear immediate space if at all possible in positive forward direction or at least exiting immediate congestion, and trusting to be able to get hands free/twist clear and then give off a longer handball to a suporting player now running into space from behind and with forward momentum.
Huge. Freakin. Difference.

It's the right call. We got Newcombe this way. Best to hold out to see if we can find another. 2021 was another broken year of footy so going to be more Newcs out there.

I think it was Sam who liked what he saw, and most likely our HFC recruiters in conjunction with Box Hill that got Newk to trial there in the first place.
HFC scouts and recruiting staff have input into getting players who miss out on being drafted down to BH for summer trials.
