Game Day Suns v Us - 7:40pm - either my time or not

Optimistic because I am emotionally healthy and know that this is the optimal mindset to have when there is little evidence to be anything but.

Those who jump at shadows have a loser mentality.

If we lose tonight then we can use that evidence to revisit our view on our rebuild and on our prospects for the season but until we get the evidence any pessimism is just wearing your own trauma on your sleeve.

If we could go up to GC and win without Tex I reckon it gives us a fair shout to say we don't need to rely on him. If we win in a close one same idea and it's away too so throw that into the mix. Could get rid of 3 monkeys in one night.

So what you’re saying is that Soligo will be a liability due to fitness if we get an injury 5 mins into the game.

Seems a strange risk to take.
So you have never seen players managed with lower minutes in a game of AFL...

Seriously?

It's common practice that most newer players or players being managed play less minutes than their team mates.

Check out the minutes played published after a game....

So according to the selectors, Soligo is either not in our best 22 (laughably stupid), or he’s underdone (ding ding).

An injury in the first 5 minutes would outline the utter stupidity of selecting a player who is not fit to play a full afl game as the sub.

I was expecting you to respond that you are in a better position than Burgess about the fitness levels of Soligo.

I'm all for managing players & using the sub smartly.
That’s just a silly diversion.

He’s either fit enough to play a full game of AFL or he’s not. If he’s not, given his lack of games he should have played SANFL.

If he’s not and we cop an early injury then what?

If he is fit, he plays.

You disagreeing with any of that?

Yes.

But you are refusing to listen.

You didn’t answer his question. If we cop an early injury how is he being managed?

Wonder how many other afl clubs would sign a guy up until 2029 and then relegate him to sub because he rolled an ankle a month ago and subsequently looked like the best player on the field when he came into a preseason game a fortnight ago.

Fit = start in the midfield

Underdone = play SANFL trial game

Sub = nonsense
Yeah. Get optimistic then remember who you support.

No you haven’t, I read your other post.

Do you consider Soligo fit enough to play a full game?
I don't know, but I'm sure Burgess knows more than you do, despite you thinking otherwise!

I’m fully aware that this occurs. It also occurs almost exclusively with players who AREN’T the sub, so has very little to do with the topic at hand.

If Soligo was in the starting 22 and played 60% game time, nobody would bat an eyelid.

If we were talking about a fringe player like Berry or Sholl being named sub, nobody would bat an eyelid.

If Soligo was left out of the 23 due to fitness concerns, nobody would bat an eyelid.

What we have here is some sort of in between nonsense, where one of our best players is named sub, apparently because he’s underdone, and we now sit and cross our fingers that nobody gets injured early, because then we’ll have an underdone player who apparently can’t play a high percentage of game time as a replacement.

Weird.

Yes but do you know more than Burgess? Even though Kane doesn’t know what Burgess is thinking either.

Again not making sums much sense besides silly statements.

Ok I’ll dumb it down for you and actually try and answer it. Would you play someone who was incapable of playing a full game as sub?
I have already answered this several posts ago, so why do you ask me yet again!!!

Players are regularly managed with lower minutes on field as needed.

When you see red, you just don't read what others are saying.

Don't bother getting me to say it a 3rd time, as I have a game to hopefully enjoy.

Spot on... This is a Burton-esque call.... :embarrassedv1:

Because what you are saying doesn’t make any sense. You’re advocating playing an unfit player as the sub it seems.

No shit... but unlike you I'm not claiming to know better than him.

No I'm not... but we have already established you can't read.
