Never lived in Essendon but my fathers side of the family come from there originally. My Great grandfather, grandfather and father are/were Essendon.

It was my destiny.

Grew up in North-East victoria 3 hrs from melb.. Parents were immigrants and had no interest in footy.. Not sure why i went for Essendon, by by neighbours were Carlton nuts..

I moved from Brisbane to Melbourne when I was 12 and decided to start going for North despite living in Bentleigh. All of my Melbourne relatives are Saints supporters, but I chose North and stuck with them.

Never lived in Geelong- followed them thru mum as she grew up in the Surf Coast region. (also had a holiday house on the Bellarine Penninsula, so that area has always felt like a "second home" to me)

Also funnily enough, where I did grow up is pro-Essendon (ie. North-western suburbs of Melb), and I ****ing hate the Bombers. :D:thumbsu:

Lived all my life in NSW. Played Aussie Rules in school, but did not have a team. But Super League pissed me of enough that I decided that begin to follow AFL.

St George fan, so I had a choice of St Kilda for the name or the Swans for the colours.

But the Swans where too well known to me, I could recall the pink helicopters, Warrick Capper & the like. Yuk

So the Saints it was.

Wow. I'm sure that's a decision you've regretted a fair bit..

The club in the town I grew up in are the Robins and have the same jumper as Essendon. As a very small kid I was taken to see the local side and then saw what I thought was the local side on TV ( I was 5). From that moment onwards I have loved every thing about the Essendon Football club to the point it feels almost part of me. Cried like a baby when Hird and Sheeds finished. Put a cricket bat through the shed wall when Wanganeen left. Will cry again when Fletch finishes up in 2045 and celebrated like crazy in 2000.

Feel privilaged enough to be able to tell my soon to be son that I saw Hird,Fletcher,Long and Lloyd play and explain to him how no matter how good a player in the future is Hird was better.

I've never lived in the north-west of Melbourne, or anywhere north of the Yarra, but I discovered at a family reunion most of my extended family are Bombers, basing themselves there since they got off a boat.

The bigger clubs like Collingwood and Essendon have made geography almost irrelevant.

Growing up in Perth there wasn't any rules or zones to supporting a team in the VFL.

Surprised how many Eagles fans aren't originally West Australians.

I should really be a South Fremantle fan too but what can you do when your older brothers say they'll beat you up and make you eat dog food if you don't support the cardies.

As far as SANFL clubs go, I was born and lived in North Adelaide zone, went to school in North Adelaide, Norwood and Sturt zones, my friends barracked for Norwood, and my family barracked for Port for a couple generations.

Well I've never even been to the Southern Hemisphere, let alone Australia .......... so that might just make me the fan who lives the furthest away :D

Discovered the game through satellite tv, and the only time I get to a live game is when they play those challenge games at the Oval Cricket Ground in London.
