On the contrary, I'd say playing in the middle is what helped get Papley and us back in the game.
I agree. It’s only when you watch the highlights package you realise how many of our scoring chains involved Logan.Small shoutout to McDonald. About 3-4 goals of Papley's came from McDonald's hands/foot.
Obviously hoped for more from him, but made Papley more dangerous.
He probably lucky we don’t depth atm to be honestI rekn he's gotten a bit too comfortable of late thinking he's solidified his position. He seems to have let go of the basics that got him in. Let's be real early on he was a bit of a squib, but he slowly worked on it and started really cracking in. Seems to have dropped off in intensity the slightest bit, but enough that it is noticeable.
Missing 1000 games of experience

Someone who knows one of the current players very well said that that was exactly that player's view of Buddy.I have been trying to put it into words and I think you summed it up quite well. Compare Buddy and Rampe over their careers.
You can see the way that Rampe plays that he is focused just on much, if not more, on helping his team mates play their role as he is on his own role. You put Rampe on the field and at the least every other defender’s performance increase by a material margin, if not every player on the park. Rampe is our heart and soul player, no questions asked.
I feel that Buddy does absolutely everything he can to optimise his role in the team. He chases hard (when his body let him), makes tackles, passes off to team mates and runs hard and demands the ball. For a full forward of his talent, this is remarkable. What I don’t think Biddy has done so well, is to think about others’ roles, his impact on those and how he can optimise whole of team performance. He demands the ball when he shouldn’t and doesn’t help create space for others as much as he should.
(Hence why Clarkson very intelligently put him on a wing, where by Buddy focusing on optimising his role is more likely to optimise whole of team performance by default).
Buddy’s tunnel vision on his own role is why the performance of other forwards drop when Buddy is on the park, and I am not only talking this year. I am talking Reid and Tippet when they were supposed to be at their prime.
Buddy is the best individual player I have seen play. If you needed a player to make something from nothing, it is Buddy. But he crowds out his teammates, both in terms of physical and mental space - and at the same times enables them to be lazy (because you can just give it to Buddy to make something out of nothing).
Post his playing career, I think Buddy would make a great talent scout. I’m less sure about coaching. He has a bit of Stevie J to him. Talent can spot talent but it can’t pass its talent onto others, and it struggles to understand people with less talent.
Just my two cents…

I actually like that.

One could say that your opinion is driven by that very fact aka if they had an opportunity for more shots on goal their % could be less.I feel like all our best kicks for goal are guys who hardly ever kick for goal - Mills, Lloyd, Campbell
And we all know you get a little flustered for the backmen.Love the have been a long time fan. He's just super composed down back and he's a smart footballer.
I have his signed jersey.Love the have been a long time fan. He's just super composed down back and he's a smart footballer.
That is true, but then I remember when Heath Grundy used to get his very rare shots on goal playing as a defender, and I'd be reminded exactly why we wanted him to be a defender in the first placeOne could say that your opinion is driven by that very fact aka if they had an opportunity for more shots on goal their % could be less.
