AFL press:

“Richmond’s injury toll is crippling. They fought bravely and looked the better team for large parts of the game. Damien Hardwick really mustered a supreme effort from his gallant, undermanned troops. They remain a real flag chance with even a small amount of luck on the injury front.

Oh, and Sydney won”.

Ah - I see you've just finished reading the Herald Sun article. My god it was bad - barely mention the winning team. Like, at all.

This is their assessment of the last quarter - where we kicked 6 goals

Then, in the last quarter, Ryan dropped another one. This one was equally as important, as it allowed Tom Papley to run into an open goal and kick his fourth.

Then, Ryan dropped another one when the ball bounced off his chest inside 50m.

Hugo Ralphsmith, 21, had some twitchy moments. Where is he at?

Noah Balta is a cub no more. But what was up with him on Friday night?

When Isaac Heeney intercepted his handball at halfback to run into an open goal it returned the Swans’ breathing space.

Balta has credits in the bank. Sadly for the Tigers, their 2023 credits are running out.

BT is such a biased campaigner.
BT doesn't even bother to know our players. He knows Rowie because tht is his nephew. But he often gets other players names wrong. He has often mixed Mills and Parker up. He mixes Heeney and papley up. He mixed Stephens and McInerney up. It doesn't seem to matter that they look nothing like each other. He just seems incapable of calling the right player. Not only that his mate Brayshaw get names wrong all the time. The other problem is Brayshaw seems unable to pinpoint where players are playing.

Youngest team of the round.
All players contributed in parts but stand outs were Papley, Lloyd, Blakey and Chad Warner.

Richmond are woeful. Yes they have injuries but they are so poor by foot and poorly disciplined. Lots of talk but actions speak louder than words.
We had more injuries than them this week

Gould had a moment when he was 2v1 but he spoiled Reiwoldt then won the ball. flipping loved it, hope he gets a full game next week.

Looks like our players actually hunted for the ball. The wanted to win it first, loved it.

Campbell was great, who knew hb would work for him

Blakey was flipping nuts, love the lizard.

Llloyd please stop taking kick outs, our ball movement is soo stangant when you do it compared to lizard

No we didn’t, Tigers had 14 players listeed as injured this week compared to our 9.
14 players? How many of them have actually played or are regulars at AFL level? That's crap. Only 6 of those are regular senior performers. Brown is not.

Of our injury list

Melican (1) (even though he has not played recently he would have been very valuable today)

Paddy McCartin (2)

Tom McCartin (3)

Franklin (4)

Hickey (5)

Reid (6)

Wicks (7)

Clarke (8)

you could also add Konstanty to that if you were doing a Richmond and including every player even those who have yet to debut.

and we lost Amartey in the second quarter.

Richmond Injury list from their Website

he did a lot of stuff that won't get noticed (unless you pore over replays), he seemed to do a lot of up-and-back running, and he did deliver final passes that set up at least two goals
i just think he gets better, more rounded every week ... he seems to have a great connection with papley
Amartey going down would have hurt his natural role completely. he would now have to play the big marking target.

I'd still give him BOG over Papley, but it was nice to see someone finishing their chances too.

Hats off to Paps, his was obviously an epic contribution.

But when things were tough and tight in the second quarter, and the Tigers were getting repeat i50's, it was Blakey as the only genuine tall "defender" who I felt was the biggest reason for us taking a lead into halftime. Never hit the panic button at any stage.

But its not part of the post its not the padding its a foreign object dangling why was the goal disallowed?

Help me understand

It's part of the goalpost so it's the correct decision, just as if the ball hit the goal umpires flags. You would expect better and not to have it be a factor but sadly the AFL is so half-arsed they don't bother to check for these things before the start of a match or at breaks between quarters.

The goal post flap is at least something new I’ve not seen before. Seen the ball clip the flags and the flag holders but not a padding cover flap. Kind of interesting at least. Only because it didn’t effect the result.
Many years ago there were no pads on the goals. Now they are 30cm thick. That is a big difference between a goals and point.

If you want to take the buddy isnt best 22 case fine, but sometimes feels like you dump everything on him
Papley Heeney etc where way better this week for starters.

parker was poor both games? for consistency you could call for his head.
Because Bud is so noticeable he gets penalised for every infraction. He gets a few too. But gives away more than he gets. The umpires look fot him to offend. They might not think they do t
but they do. They already have an impression of how Bud plays and even if he is in the right more often than not they will pay the other way.

He was theirs on a platter but they wanted to play silly buggers and not offer pick 9 on its own.
In fact he wasn't. He never really wanted to move to Carlton. He preferred to play with Swans. But his girlfriend had a really good job in Melbourne and his father was ill. But there was never a huge risk. He loves it at the swans. His major reason was put to bed, his father's illness, so to speak by the Swans agreeing to make visiting his father easier. His father was the one who said don't be a donger lol
