When you are best on ground - highly experienced and the firsts are coming off a loss - it's pretty much a given.
Obviously Bigfooty Board (including me) would like to see some new pacey players coming in, but...
Might not be the worst call against the Crows tbh. It's going to be tough inside and Keiran might provide a bit of variety we need more of than Dawson.

Still playing limited minutes. Makes you realise how big a step up it us from NEAFL to AFL.

Clearly the club is aware of the need to strengthen our midfield, as currently our only geniune inside midfielder is Kennedy.

Are they planning on reinventing Rose as an inside mid?? He might be a very poor man's Ryan O'Keefe, but it could be worth a try as at least he would add some size to the mids, and realistically he's unlikely to make it playing anywhere else at this point.

Fox is bigger and tougher. Think Rose is more the one to take the ball away. Good role for him in NEAFL. Did it a lot last season.

I like Foxy and the way he plays. Suspect there is no real role for him under Longmire. I'd be amazed if a couple of other clubs did not chase him in the next trade period.

Nope I don't... but isn't John Head Coach? Wouldn't you expect that he has overview of all decisions? As I have said before, I have never played or coached AFL, so I really don't KNOW anything, unless I can find evidence. I was asking a serious question.

Given that John is Head Coach, I would have thought that he had overview of all decisions made at any level within the squad. That's not to say he micro-manages them, just a final tick so to speak. It's my understanding that the squad exists to fill the seniors team and prepare back up players to play in case of injury or poor form to one of the seniors players. So then, I would think that he would be involved in what we do with the youngsters... even keeping a quiet eye on the promising academy players.

I was at the first Ressies scratch match. ALL the coaches were there. Seemed to me that Laids and Perris were allowed to do their jobs coaching the team and the players but Horse didn't miss a single minute. As it should be.
Laids, like Shaw, looks the goods as a coach. Calm, focussed, observant.

Yes. I laughed. Pretty much the same as naming Sam Wicks as FF.

What do you mean “under Longmire”? Fox’s ebbs and flows in match intensity are far too drastic to make him any sort of reliable member of our team. That’s on Fox, not on Horse.

I think he has been used in all manner of roles. Plays pretty well in my view. I do not think we have seen the best of him. He gets his own ball, takes good marks, is a reliable kick, can run and is tough.

If Rose kept it simple he'd be a, far better player. His mind also gets ahead of the ball on occasions and he misses completely. He has, super talent but an overactive imagination. He IS doing it for the team. He wants so badly to contribute. I think that is obvious.

Sorry Caesar, but you had a potshot at another poster for disliking a particular player and stated that you believed their judgement was clouded by their dislike, but that's exactly how you are with Rose, just as you are with Reid. I think Rose always plays his hardest and plays to win, I actually think his problem is that he tries to hard and thinks he's far more capable than he actually is and thinks by trying the "fantastic" option it's going to be the best for the team, even though it very rarely is.

Horse probably did. But he still has blinkers when it comes to playing Dawson in the mids at AFL level. I think last year that he played OK there under difficult circumstances, playing Ruck where he has never played before.
