That game was as embarrassing as shitting your pants on a first date.

It's hard to pick out individuals who cost us the game because there are so many of them. We were trailing behind our opponents, getting caught behind on the spread, dropping marks and kicking and hoping. It was like the early / mid 90's. I actually struggled to think of our "best 5". There are a few players I don't remember making horrible errors, but it might just be because they didn't get near the ball.

Here's a mastercoach tip, if you kick the ball to a group of players, they get beaten by their opponents and the ball comes straight back to you, you should consider a different avenue. Especially if you do it 50 #$%^ing times in a row out of the defensive 50 in a tight game.

Recall that pass from Hanners under no pressure where we had two loose players in the middle 15m out and he misses both of them and goes to the Port player for the rebound...

That is one of the plays that is burned into my mind by the dizzying fall from expectation to execution.

Last year we had lost to richmond stkilda and the crows

This year the cats hawks power and a draw with the dockers

That was last year, this year we are fighting with an extremely competitive Fremantle and Essendon for a place in the Top 4 with Hawthorn and Geelong and we all know that we need to finish top 4 if we are to have the best chance to go back to back and we just made that task much harder for ourselves.

Melbournehammer im always skeptical about those Swan supporters that create those ridiculous MB threads wish you could tell if they are aliases or not.

I have the same suspicions as you, but it doesn't matter either way.

Not directed at you JohnG, but if people think BF is representative of the real world, which it is not, then I would much prefer arrogance and defending the club than meek and mild submission. Humility has no place on MB discussions because it is far removed from the real world.

Let's take COLA discussions for example. People aren't interested in discussing the merits of it, why it is deserved and how much it should be. They are only interested in using it as an excuse as to why we won the premiership. Nothing more, nothing less. Personally, I find it cringe-worthy when Swans supporters agree with these posters even slightly.

Defend the club regardless. That is what other club supporters do. If you have something good to say about Sydney then say. If you think we will win the flag then say it. If you have something bad to say about the club then keep it to yourself. If you post on BF seeking respect for your club then you are better off talking to your pet or your hand.

Respect is pulling out the 2012 DVD and seeing how a pack of low draft picks, no names and other clubs rejects dismantled Hawthorn on their home ground in front of Australia.

Going back to our discussion It Just Is on the other thread that has been locked for some stupid reason, were you surprised with Robbie Gray?
Yesterday was exactly why I questioned him being used as the sub although he still only had 80%TOG he was influential in the win.
Also worth noting was the change in style that we alluded to, the play on at all costs bit that I suggested wouldn't work against us.. Your coach changed it up, well done you went from a game high 51 tackles to 98 against us.
Also again like last week the bulk of your goals game came from turnovers, 9 of your 11 to be exact.
You guys came to play, took the game up to us and beat us at our own game, credit where its due.. :thumbsu:

You can Richmond and Collingwood to that top 4 fight, too.

Keep our players the hell away from footy shows that inflate their egos.
Not his fault but Lyon & co just praised him rediculously the other night & that's not something we're used to in Sydney.

Big Head Syndrome!

It was on show at times yesterday & Port knew they would catch us out.

Agree, we dropped a very dumb one cannot afford slip up of the current top 5 we have the harder run home. You cannot bank on too many cats and hawks losses at all unless they do what we did yesterday.

Robbie Gray was much better yesterday. He still seems a touch hesitant with his kicking but he's a match winner and played well when it mattered. Someone on our board the other day quoted Jacob Surjan as saying the club didn't expect Robbie to play anywhere near his best and that this year was still largely about recovery and building confidence.

Good luck against Carlton next week. Do us a favour and give them a flogging :thumbsu:

Haven't watched much due my own footy, but what is the go with Lamb, its a disgrace that he can't get a full game and bums like Morton do
Morton will be out this week if Reid is ready I even would give Membrey a go if Reid doesn't come up and Morton out, like I said yesterday before the game I hate Armstrong in the side he is not AFL standard and it proved yesterday he is soft as , Mumford is a massive out Jessie did what he does best yesterday nothing FFS , our depth is getting tested even more now with Goodes injured and Everitt

I thought the last quarter against Fremantle would be our worst moment of the season. I was wrong.

We've thrown away 6 points this year and I just can't see Hawthorn or Geelong doing that.

We 'throw away' 8points against the Cats every freakin' year!!!

It's never fun dropping one you think you should win, but I'm sure you won't be the only team either. This sport seems to throw up the unexpected time and time again, particularly in the second half of the season's home and away matches where teams still in with a chance for 8th spot knock off much higher teams - season on the line sort of attitude if you will.

It was telling how Armstrong didn't produce a single clean rebound out of defence all game, but Lamb managed one in his first 5 minutes on the ground.

Let's hope Everitt is able to play next week. I certainly don't want Tony taking on one of Garlett or Yarran. I am really hoping Tony will improve to the point where he is a consistent defender but it really isn't looking likely right now.

Morton tried again yesterday. He and McGlynn had no opportunity to impact the game after quarter time

Agreed. Morton chased and tackled well enough and barely got an opportunity to do anything with the ball. Not a great performance like everyone else but he'll get another shot I imagine.

Dont agree about McGlynn. In the third Missed tackles and was 2nd to the ball kicked to space and seemingly lacking intensity in the third. Was pushed up the ground in the last and still failed to impact. He had a poor game yesterday.

Yeah I thought Morton was fine. He looked fairly likely option a few times, ran pretty hard and applied defensive pressure when it was his turn. Nothing to sing about but, he did ok on a shitty day.

I reckon Rampe can hold his head high. Thought he looked fairly composed on a day when our backmen didn't seem to have much by way of disposal options. Same goes for Malceski.

I thought Cornes' job on Hannebery was phenomenal. It's obviously pretty tough going getting such a hard tag, but in the wet, it must feel like running with cement boots. At least that's how it looked with Hanners for large tracts of the game. He seemed to break free a little in the last quarter, but I think his spirit had been broken by that stage. He really needs to learn how to deal with that level of attention.

All in all it was pretty frustrating game to watch. First quarter we looked ok, but from that point on, we were out-pressured, out-ran and out-classed, and increasingly so as the game wore on.

I really can't see us dishing out the same level of intensity next Friday.
