Would rather we had given Alex Brown a chance down back instead of Armstrong (shits himself and makes mistakes, leaks too many goals, always looks like he's about to collapse).

Really says a lot about Everitts improvement that most of us are disappointed he's out, wouldn't have been the same reaction last year.

This is definitely a danger game for us. We have had two byes in a row, so we may be a bit rusty.

Danger 'quarter' or 'quarters' rather than danger 'game', I'd say.

Sure, we may get jumped. We may be rusty in parts - and that's happened before, but we don't capitulate fully for games anymore. We have a history of playing to oppositions standards. But it's pretty hard to believe, form lines and cattle considered (with all due respect to the young port brigade), that we will be anything but convincing winners come the final siren.

Silly to put a number on it, but anything in the ball-park of 40-80 point win would be my guess.

I'll be happy with a one point win though.

Now we even suffer injuries during the bye? This is really starting to become frustrating, and we're losing guys just as they're hitting their straps (Reid, Mumford, Everitt).

Shit.

Yeah frustrating... a little for sure. But I wouldn't be surprised if there's a bit of cautious coaching/player management going on. No disrespect to port, but hey, if you can give a player an extra weeks rest for whatever reason, with due consideration to the opponent, why wouldn't you? I do feel that's what's going on atm to a certain extent.

My post was in jest. I would honestly be surprised and disappointed if we didn't win by at least 7 to 8 goals. No disrespect to Port, but they're nowhere near our skill level, just yet.

Rampe has been doing more of the 3rd tall jobs than Everitt over the last few weeks anyway so it doesn't put us in complete shit but it is definitely a loss as he was playing his role wonderfully well.

Rampe is still a lot shorter than Everitt (as is Armstrong). I have to agree that we may be exposed for height in defence. Everitt's a big loss and achilles problems can be career ending (a la Craig Bolton). Crikey, at this rate we may end up with just Tippet and the ressies playing the finals ("Kick it to him" "Kick it to him"). I'm still hoping we get everyone back for the finals. By then we'll have enough tested depth to field 2 teams.

Everitt really is not a defender. watching him play......He is a big loss, but I wouldnt call him a defender. Rampe, the way he is playing, he deserves to be in the team. who to drop? from the team named today, against players that will be available this season:

I started writing a long message, but when i realised the players that will be available this year: Jetta, Shaw, Everitt, LRT, Mumford, Reid. We have to much depth. we will loose someone at the end of the year.

But I think, Rampe, on current form and improvement will be in our finals team. Its a big call, but mark my word.

In the style of the Swans Everitt's a rebound defender. An ideal choice for turning defence quickly into attack with very good speed and a great boot to set up play

I think he is more suited to the wing/half forward. great kick for goal and entrances into the forward fifty. In defence, his game is not suited. My personal opinion.

If he was a half back flanker, playing 7 defenders most games, there is no room for him. I think in defence:
- TED & Grundy the tall defenders
- Smith & Rampe the lock down defenders. Rampe over the last few weeks has been showing more offense. I think he is slowly building his game to AFL standard. (Johnson would be there instead of Rampe if fully fit).

Then the half back flankers:
- mcveigh (can play on ball but with the outs has been playing there)
- malceski
- Shaw (when he returns)
- c.bird (depending on the opposition)

There is the 7. With potentially mcveigh and everitt alternating between positions. I can not see him taking rampe's role.

in effect from last years grand final team:
johnson > rampe
mattner > ???

then ins, tippett, everitt, mitchell, mcglynn for who?????

My opinion, rampe would not be on my chopping block. I know the names around him, but if you earn your place in the team you deserve it. rampe has.

^ Yes and his defensive work has really improved IMO. Pretty gutted about losing him, Armstrong creates a weak link in our side. Really hope it's precautionary as someone mentioned and we see a player return next week for Tony.

Edit: was agreeing with Bungee.

Shame I have to work Sat/......gonna miss the game on TV......anyone who has my number care to text me the scores? More-so update Tippett's performance/...

you sound sick to me, rest up on the weekend i reckon

armstrong is yet to win a spot, but see the reaciton to everitt, these players can turn it around, they need game time to do so.
