Definite outs: McInerney Rowbottom Papley Rampe
Possible outs: Mills Hayward Amartey

Could be a big week for inclusions. Worse case scenario, we could be calling on up to 4 from Wicks, Sheldrick, Cleary, Mitchell, Reid, Francis and Hamling, as well as starting with Corey Warner.

I would probably go

*Fox replace Rampe in defence. Then Corey Warner comes in at half forward
*Wicks replace Papley. I think we need a specialist small forward whilst Papley is out, even if Wicks is not in form
*Rowbottom/Mills/Sheldrick (whoever is fit) replaces Hayward. Then Parker spends more time forward. I would not take risks with Hayward. Give him time to get his ankle right rather than play him injured.

Agree let’s have 7 outs to be safe. Can afford to drop this one. Might have some fresh and hungry inclusions

Wicks, Mills, C Warner in. Francis/Reid the sub. If Amartey is out, Reid comes straight in. Fox goes back, Heeney goes more forward.

I'm a little bit worried about Mills after such a tame first game back, but hopefully he'll be more ready this time. Or is he injured too? If he is, I guess you'd have to bring in Sheldrick. Maybe Cleary or Mitchell, but they're not quite AFL ready yet imo. I dunno if Sheldrick is either, but he showed some promising signs in the few games I've seen him in.

Bulldogs have been great knocking over the Blues and Cats in the last two weeks. Prior to that they lost to the Power by 8 goals in Adelaide.

The loss to the Power shouldn’t surprise as they are 1-3 away from Victoria this year.

Hopefully the Swans turn up for the first quarter. I know I’ll be there.
Ed Richards has become their most important player (with Bont).

In games they’ve been belted in, Richards often hasn’t played (including when we beat them earlier in the season).

Horse, if you’re reading this …. Tag the bloodnut.

Mills is a bit of a headscratcher play him against North but "rest" him against Brisbane? maybe the heat was a factor? idk
Might just be sports scientists going overs as he played more minutes in his comeback game than he was meant to…..?

TagbRichards for sure, his going off v us helped us big time. I think he can be more damaging than Bont and goes under the radar a bit.

Start Corey , Parker might go sub, so doesn't run out of legs
Parker is the better sub. Could play midfield or forward depending on what is required. Mills, Wicks, Francis to come in I reckon

Out: Rampe, Papley, Hayward.
In: Wicks, Sheldrick, Francis.

If Reid is fit & one of the tall forwards need a rest, then he comes in.
Time to freshen up some players while we face these tough weeks. Let’s see who wants to be part of our finals team.
Who cares if we drop a few here. We’ve earned the buffer.

I don't even want to hear of Haywood being strapped up and put on the field. Rest him no matter what.

Sheldrick had a good game this week. Do we want to play Heeney forward next game for Haywood with Sheldrick in the middle? I'd like to see it. Heeney can take a grab too, which seems to be a bit lacking lately, though McDonald is showing himself to be more competitive in the air at least.

They have a lot of tall forwards so Francis is a good idea. I wonder if Hamling is a better option in defense though....

If Mills is being managed one game back then he might be better suited to sub atm while he builds his tank and confidence in his body. Play Sheldrick in the middle.

It'll be odd if Parker is sub. Parker will be needed both in the middle and forward all game. Sub's more likely to be one of Francis or Fox.

Amartey looked pretty beaten up. He could obviously use a break. I wouldn't mind giving Reid a game. See how he holds up.

Mills is the wild card. What's happening with him? Is he injured or are they being ultra cautious with him? It was painful seeing him so far off the pace last week. Maybe he's just not ready.

Massive game for our season this one.

Not so much in a 'we can't make the top 4 if we lose' way, 2 more wins definitely gets us top 4 and almost certainly top 2 with it. With our run in our last 3 games you'd back us in to get those 2 wins required .... but getting top 4(2) locked away early just completely changes how we can go into that last stretch and into finals, gives us options - can rest the sore boys, give some exposure to the depth, knuckle down on a couple of things without worrying bout results etc.

Out: Rampe, Papley
In: Wicks, Mills

Fox goes into the backline (where he should always be unless the sub imo). Hopefully Haywards is fine in 7 days given he played it out but if not assume someone like Mitchell/Sheldrick comes in as sub. Looks like we'll be undermanned but still will have enough talent to win and it doesn't need to be pretty just need to tick off the W.
1 win should secure top 4 , as Giants or Cats or Port would have to win all 5 from 5 to knock us out … and looking at their draws, I just can’t see that happening.
And I think 2 wins secures top 2 for similar reasons 🙏

The club has been steadfast in keeping the three tall forwards combination no matter the form. I would put money on it that with Reid playing an ok game, he will be rushed back in this week. Likely to replace a complete opposite player like Papley.

If Reid comes in, it will be for Amartey. Wicks for Papley, Francis for Rampe, Mills for Hayward.

This would make us too tall up forward :(

I like the idea of Reid playing back but Francis or Hamling would be ahead of him in the pecking order for Rampe’s spot in the team

Didn't get to watch reserves as I was away over the weekend, driving at the time. Caught the AFL game before driving home today. Good effort with the injuries against the form team away, though again a costly start and lacking polish at times.

Assuming the worst re: injuries, and those who were out this week, looked banged up, I think we're still in a position to take no chances with injured/hurt players.

So...worst case:

Out: Rampe, Papley, Hayward
In: Francis, Warner (from sub), Magor
Sub: Sheldrick

If Rowy is ok, then in instead of Magor, play Heeney forward a bit more (to offset the loss of Hayward).

Mills I'd just play for 3Q in reserves to do what we should have done and ease him back in.

Wicks was just OK from what I've read about the VFL yesterday, and was poor the week before, so for the sake of selection integrity, I'd be wanting a good game from him before bringing him back.

JJ and Fox can introduce themselves to Richards and Dale.

Let’s get a good chunk of the vfl team in this week. No more risks on Hayward, amartey, rowie or Mills (if he’s sore) plus any other player that needs it eg Grundy

Can not see us winning this one and don’t want us to if it’s at risk of further injury. But if the vfl boys have a crack who knows what could happen and could be the hitout they need and we might uncover some talent. Eg Corey who looked good today.

I like fast players.
