At least if there is one team we can just bomb it in long to 1v1 contests and have the best hope its Essendon as they have 3 of the worst 5 key defenders for 1v1 losses including their "Saviour" Ben McKay

Who goes on Durham? Guy is a gun. Strong and powerful runner who gets them going after Merrett feeds it out.

If JJ goes to Merrett then Rowbottom should do the trick on Durham, he has held Cripps and other powerful players in the past

Rowbottom does his best work in close to the ruck, not on the outside.
Warner maybe to blanket him, then run the other way when we recover the ball?

No idea haven't seen the Dons play, but if Durham is getting the ball as a runner outside the contest, then Robottom is not the guy.

Warner given a defensive assignment, are you trying to make us lose?

Cripps is strong, but slow - testimony to Rowy that he was able to run interference on him.

Durham is a different animal - if a tag is warranted it’l have to be one of the quicker on ballers - unless they give Mills a full time job on him.

This is where Macca would have been perfect.

Tbf putting Heeney on him is probably the best option because he can go with him but also it puts Durham at a cross roads of being too attacking and it back firing if Heeney gets the ball. Probably would leave Rowbottom to go to a Parish or Caldwell

I thought about Heeney specifically - he’s probably the one player good enough to negate Durham and hurt him the other way - but we ‘may’ need him forward unfo.

This is why a McInnes or drafting a marking medium/undersized tall would be a good option because we wouldn't have to chuck Heeney into the forward line because he is a quality overhead marking threat

I reckon the coaching crew will just see how the match ups go - if essendone struggle out of the middle, Heeney may well move fwd.

If Durham is a problem, they’ll have to try a close tag.
