Does anyone want to play in china? I doubt any club would willingly give up a home game for it.
Allegedly alot of smaller Victorian clubs are keen. It's a great money spinner. I think Adelaide are looking into hosting a pre season game in India too, so clubs are interested in the idea. From the football department point of view, probably less so.

I hope this is our last game in China. I would much prefer Cairns/Townsville/Mackay. We should bring in Brodie/Barlow for Swallow/Lyons. They should do the same inside job and we would have Swallow and Lyons rested and ready for Cats. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to see Suns beat Cats. I assume we still fly over to China via Singapore?

I tend to agree. I dont want to tank this game but i hold no hope of a win and believe we should rest any player with a niggle and prepare to have our best team on the park from round 11 onwards.
Go small rest lyons, swallow for barlow, brodie if may and day are out bring in spencer and scrimshaw.

I think the "smaller" Vic clubs are already set for at least next year. Dogs have ballarat, dees have darwin, hawks and roos are in tassie and saints i think still are having plans in NZ.

In my opinion this China venture is the biggest waste of time on football calendar.
Not just for Suns but any team willing to go there.
Seriously what does it achieve? Nothing -Small crowd -No atmosphere- free Holiday for AFL officials.
We have thousands of Chinese living in Australia who are accustomed to AFL but how many play or
support a club -not many I think.
If its all about finance then the AFL is in trouble.
Hope we never go again.
Time to rest all players with any niggles.

Why do you guys let this mob talk you into giving up a home game for them. They must pay your club a lot of money. I for one would be spewing if my club gave up a home game. us Interstaters arnt Victorians who get 15-16 matches. We get 12. 11 home and 1 against Port and you guys 1 against Brisbane. 12 Opportunities to see your club play. So why give up a home match where your supporters can get to go watch. Its your home game. You decide where to play it. If Port really want a china game make them give up one of their home games (unable to though due to Adelaide Oval contract)

well we don't have a home ground for a start........

Surely the AFL and the club could have managed 12 games between Metricon a and the Gabba. Your supporters deserve to be able to attend 12 games a year. How many of you are making the trip to China.
Part if the deal with the comm games is other major sportibg events aren't held in host cities so at times Brisbane wasn't available as well.
Think it's an open secret the AFL forced us into the China arrangements, which we've had to cop on the chin being reliant on AFL funding as we are. That said pretty sure we make a fair bit of coin from it.
Suns supporters, players and admin hate it from what I understand. Pretty sure Port don't want us having anything to do with in the future so hopefully this is our last year.

Gee 26 players and we thought the NEAFL struggled last week.
I wouldn't read anything into the NEAFL result. Brisbane had 878 AFL matches worth of experience and we had Eddie Sansbury playing one out in the goal square with a bunch of 16 to 22-year-olds. 5 players returning from injury and the availability of the real Academy players after their series finished on the weekend.

Yeah i agree but we still want our players playing at a good level. 4 players will travel over and not play seems a little bit of a waste especially as there is a bye the week after.

One thing nobody seems to be talking about is Jack Scrimshaw’s on the ball role in the NEAFL game. Who cares about the result if Scrimshaw, Brodie, Powell, Jaska, Schoenfeld, Dawson, Heron and co are getting experience against big bodied players.

I’d suggest that Connor Nutting could be a roughie for Senior selection because he was named as the active emergency but wasn’t needed. Dew has often played these guys the following week. Bring out the gum boot, it’s Nutting time!

Selling a home game to a mutual venue makes more sense than selling them to play at the opponents home venue (optus).

I really tip my hat to dew, never used travel as an excuse while the rest of the media tried giving it to him as an out
