That's pretty poor - I can understand if they fear reprisals but surely they would have ways of contacting without being found out?
Nobody from the ICC ever reached out either soooo I think you can tell what the average person in cricket cares about. Fortunately, nearly all of the womens squad have found new homes in Australia.

Seperate issue to cricket though - their barbaric religion is problematic worldwide and in any other instance you're not allowed to say anything as it's 'islamaphobic'. Can still be happy for their cricket team as an entirely separate entity to the religious beliefs within the country
It's actually quite easy to say something without sounding bigoted. This wasn't it though. The last cricket team to be shunned because of its politics was SA and I don't recall Islam being a factor there.

It's not fair on the individual players but neither was it fair on the SA players at the time. I'll tell you what though, it's even less fair to the women in Afghanistan. So I'm happy for the cricketing nations to ignore Afghanistan for now, even if the ICC won't.

It's almost contract time for the BBL right? I'll expect the yearly boycott complaint from Rashid before he re-signs with Adelaide.

Wonder if they can naturalise and play for Australia eventually. I also hope they aren't chastised for their religion or religious clothing/garments

Well done Afghanistan. I don't think you should be playing international cricket without also fielding a women's team, but you've had a good tournament nonetheless.

Your win also allows me time to savour the fact that the worst possible influence on Australian cricket is no longer in the side.

From the article I read (probs a year ago so who knows whats happened since then) most of them were playing for domestic cricket teams but were still adament they wanted to play for the AFG national team at some point. Would love to have them in our state leagues if not national - though thats a hard ask given our current squad.

The natural talent they have should be given a chance to shine.

Firmly on the SA bandwagon now

Although they deserved to go through after beating us, disgusting tactic to blatantly fake an injury

Is this officially the longest thread concerning Afghanistan vs Bangladesh on Big Footy, nay, the world?
On BF, yes, I doubt any games involving these two would've gone past two pages. Not the world though, the r/cricket thread has 24K posts.

Australian media out in force to get people to fixate on an incident, that while shocking, had zero - literally zero - impact on why Australia is out of the tournament.

Deflection. Get everyone to focus on anything other than the pathetic boys' club that is national selection.

How many countries do you actually think are going to tour there while the Taliban is in control? Like for real?
None will want to go there, but you can't have a team not play home games for 30 years.

Not really the point though.

Sandpaper gate had no effect on the overall game either.

However, if the rain persisted and they didn't get back on it would've been a blight on cricket history. Down on DLS all game to get in front and fake an injury

They don't deserve to have anyone to tour them right now. Touring them legitimizes their bigotry
If the regime is in for 30 to 50 years, they never get to play a home game?
