Our forward line set up was quite shocking last time we played port. This meant that there was a lot of indecision from the midfielders when passing it inside 50. A lot has changed since then and even with Hansen out i think our forward line will hold the key to this game. Lynch needs to & WILL kick at least 5.

Lynch has to play more up the ground, in this type of game... ala Barry Hall. Then put the pressure by bombing long to Seaby/ Wirra/ Lecras.

We need excellent half forward options to cover for the loss of Hansen, and give our mids options if they have to kick under pressure.

Lecras - Seaby/Cox - Judd

Wirra - Lynch - Embley/Staker

We should do a lockdown across the ground... trust our hardness and forward line to come out on top....

and DO NOT give them an open forward line early... they will murder us!

I don't know which group in this thread makes me want to vomit the most: The Eagles fans who have no respect for Port and think we're soft, or the appeasement from Port fans, even in the face of being called soft.

I wouldnt mind seeing us pull a Sydney infact and have 20 players around the ball ups and really clog it up. We have the likes of Priddis Stenglein who can get those real tough tight clearances. Im not sure Shaun Burgoyne, Cornes are really as good as that as most and they are at there most damaging when they sprint away from a clearance situation
Agree with that,to win this game we have to try something new not the stock standard game plan.We have to play to our strengths and their weakness and if it means clogging up the clearances then so be it.

Good in theory but I doubt your team can adapt to a such a new game style on the night.

You are wrong on S. Burgouyne he scores a lot of goals from throw ups- ins in the fwd 50. He is a very good clearance player and despite what some of you think probably not that easily intimidated.

We might not have the enforcers (Carr, Hardwick) like 04, but we play a lot harder as a team than people give us credit for.
Stopping our run is a bit different to playing it hard. It just means playing goal-side of our runners and corralling -stalling our movement rather than hard tackling.

WC strengths - I see it (funnily enough given the last few years) as WC's forward line.
Lynch, Seaby/Cox and LeCras are where I think you guys might win it.

I say might, because I think Port by 4 goals, purely because it's in Adelaide.

Judd to Full forward.
Cox forward pocket with Le-Cras.
Lynch CHF moving up the ground.
Staker roaming around half forward line.
Hunter to destroy Westoff.
Darren to totally OUTGLASS Tredrea.
This would be agood start IMO.

He would outclass tredrae with ease, he's not exactly in good form. I think he would be wasted on an out of form player, he should start on westhoff and then go to whoever is damaging too much.

Agreed, i am astounded at woosha last week for the delay.

I'm not - it was a perfect opportunity leading into the finals for him to see how our lesser players like Hunter, Jones and Staker would be able to handle an explosive forward like that - we had a big enough margin to play with. When it look threatened he threw Glass onto him.

Its a bit disappointing that none of the others could do the job and yet again Glass had to fill the void.

Don't forget that Woosha holds the opinion that we can win anywhere against anyone and as such, the difference in positions to him is far less important then building a side that can do enough damage.

But if we lost i bet your opinion would be different.
