For those of you that had a crack at predicting a ladder earlier, now that we're three rounds in is there any prediction updates ? A couple of sides may be a bit better than we thought, a couple may not be as good.
P.S well done to contributors to this thread, it has developed into an interesting and (mostly) good natured read.

Who drew the short straws with big Sim Dale and Purcell, would have made for interesting viewing. I'm sure Powelly and Clayto would have gotten in and thrown there weight around aswell :D. Also curious how the young bloke who hurt his neck is travelling. On behalf of Barny Footy Club wishing him the best and good recovery :thumbsu:.

Apparently only a select few put the gloves on. Am told it took place when there were delays in the Cricket in the wee hours!

Young Aaron Daniels is recovering well, got home to Yack on Friday i think. has got the whole traction set-up limiting his upper body movement etc. has got full feeling in his body, and is walking etc.
the boys have started the move to raise funds for him with a Wood Raffle being the first on the agenda.
thanks for your kind words Big Al, some comments in regards to the accident have been very stupid and unthoughtful, so those that are joking about it, think about it if one of your young blokes footy careers were cut short at the age of 21!

Scooter Fraser is going to organise another Sportsmans night again, last year he organised the Billy Brownless night and they raised over 7 grand for the footy trip so that will be a good fundraiser to help the young bloke with some of the costs.

No-one on this thread Martini, you may have mis-read my comment. my apologies. comments have been said in and around the town, schools, pubs etc. i guess that's what happens when small towns are so close to each other with kids from other teams going to the same school, people working together and socialising etc.
sorry again Martini, hope this clarifies it for you.

i will reiterate Run Straight's (well done Rhodesy!) comments earlier too, goods to see a healthy thread boys/girls, its great havin' bit of friendly banter isn't it!
my prediction is that Mountain Man and Kick it To Me will eventually meet each other at the Footy and fall in love, get married and live happily ever after.

And you didn't think we could do it ! If I remember our conversation in Oct 2005 correctly.

You will have to enlighten me RS.
I have always been a believer that with the right people running the club, the Doggies could (with time) build a strong side.
You must have interpreted the conversation incorrectly.

The Tiges Cats game was one sided the whole day. Rutherglen had no forward options as they were well and truely beat (4 goals for the day) and the tigers midfield had a day out. Ben Davis and Jules Day battled hard but they were the only 2 to even break even. To mention Thomson in their best was a joke as he played a kick behind all day and wasn't accountable at any stage. Surprised he didn't play fwd and at least give them an option to kick to.

Dont know about lack of forward options the ball was rarely down the Rutherglen end and they struggled to get it past the centre and the run from barny half backs was very slick, As for Ben Davis and Jules Day battled hard but i dont think i saw them change off the ball once whereas barny was always full of running, for Rutherglen this year it isnt a lack of skill, but lack of depth in key positions that will leave them at many teams mercy

Yeah, you're right - I must've taken your comment "I don't think you can do it" the wrong way.

Anyone care to pick a winner for the Kiewa / Mitta game. Having seen Kiewa first hand they were very good using there big forward well, especially rotating off the bench, but Mitta will match up well against them. It may be Kiewa's small running brigade that have the biggest influence on the game won out of the midfield. MM when is big Fraser back?

Would i be correct in asuming that if Mitta beat Kiewa this week and Thurgoona beat Wodonga Saints Thurgoona would be sitting on top of the ladder.

Go Mitta !!
If that happens we'll have to order 21 oxygen masks. The Thurgoona boys won't be used to the thin air up so high on the ladder.

Did the boys manage a few quite ones out at the Kinross RS? Big Macca would be the happiest bloke in Albury, North goin well and dogs up and going. Wonder if him and Narra have caught up for a debrief of the game. Be a great conversation. Great stuff:thumbsu: :thumbsu:

Nah Woody, even tho Narra looked after us by missing a goal to win the game, we chose to go back to the Golf Club and get on it. The boys were a bit quiet tho, the game really took it out of them. I saw a couple still drinking water at 10 oclock. We've got a bye after Round 6, the boys can have a drink then. Macca's smile is as big as his head at the moment.

I think the 700 bikers at the Kinross may also have played a significant part in a very quiet Saturday evening for the Thurgoona boys.

Enough on thurgoona and Mitta.
Are Beechworth just finding their feet or are the Saints not the real deal as they may have shown against Chiltern?
are Chiltern the real deal then?
any one care to comment?

Do i detect a Club rule there RS???
are the boys not able to have a sip until the bye???
Would Boxhead do that or did someone put him up to it?

Just a strain for Jazz Big Al, he iced it pretty well from the inside on Saturday night/Sunday morning I have been informed. an early morning boxing session on Sunday by the Yack boys as well i heard. Jazz got touched up, one bloke knocked out and Fraser a cut lip! friendly fire I was told!
Yack will be without 4 players next week as Josh Mathewson is getting married!
going to be a very young side taking the park at Mt Beauty next week for the Roos. got some very talented Thirds players coming up though with 7 already making their debut this year.
Tallangatta on Saturday were very hungry for a win and put up a gallant effort against our boys, Yack have cleared former player Tom McKenzie to the Hoppers so he can play a few games while home on holidays. The Hoppers will win a couple with him in the side. Also, where is Heath Naughton? Noticed his name in the record but did not see him at the game at all? He may have done a bit better on Purcell than "sleep-with-the-light-on" Kinross did (or didn't), the only kicks he got was when Yack kicked a point.
Your quick to criticise i was at the game on saturday and i thought he did a reasonable job on him considering he is pretty much their only option up forward. He got plenty of kicks cause Yack couldn't kick straight:) Don't worry about the hoppers they'll be there abouts come finals time:thumbsu:

I can tell you MTAG there is no club rule regarding the indulgence of copious amounts of frothy's. Unfortunately the golf club doesn't look too fondly on celebratory cheer as they have to consider the other punters dining at the club.
With the over abundance of bad ass 60 year old bikers, the boys took it into their own hands and opted for a quiet one.
Boxhead instill a no drinking policy? Hello kettle this is the pot calling! Not a chance. :p
