Hey guys,
I've had a play around with my lineup, I think I'm settled on this side. Subject to rookie changes depending on sides.
What do we think, any obvious changes to be made?

Shaw, Adams, Lloyd, Marchbank, Hampton, Otten (Vickers-Willis, Stewart)

Dangerfield, Hannebery, Selwood, Treloar, Fyfe, Beams, Taranto, Powell-Pepper (Wigg, Atley, Pickett)

Grundy, Sandilands (Cameron)

Dahlhaus, Macrae, Greene, Nankervis, Hoskin-Elliot, Parfitt (Butler, Eddy)

$11.5k Remaining

Thanks in advance.

Hey guys,

Good luck for the 2017 SC season! I have left it abit later than usual this year but here goes... Any feedback is welcome.. Pretty much maxed out my $cap, only $9,500 left.

Cheers

Bit much $ on the bench, would upgrade O'Meara (90 avg + injury prone + need to be traded out at some point) to Pendlebury (115-120 avg) and downgrade Mcarthy and Roughy/Steele to a rookie. Taranto on field in the fwd line.

As I'm firmly focused on winning my league and don't care for overall, I'm thinking of going back to a tactic that served me well last year.
It's basically a pure GnR approach while leaving about 500k in the bank for corrective trades and to give a leg up if some rookies don't make enough money quickly.

I take a hit early in the year with some lower scores and have to ride some luck in my league - last year I got very lucky!

I was initially against this as I saw a lot of good mid-pricers, plus rookies looked slim.
I'm starting to doubt the mid-pricers and see there are actually a few good rookies around.

Right now this is likely to be my team:

Docherty - Shaw - Laird - Adams - Hampton - Stewart / Otten & Guthrie
Danger - Pendles - Fyfe - Beams - JOM - Sheed - Taranto - SPP / Barrett & Miles & Pickett
Martin - Sandilands / Cameron
Dahlhaus - Macrae - Roughead - Florent - Simpkin - Eddy / Houston & Butler

with $615k in the bank

In the above team I've basically gone Treloar > Taranto & Steele > Simpkin

I can see an argument to not do that, but with league win only in mind I prefer to generate as much cash as possible so long as I finish top 8 in my league I should be having the best team in the end.
Early wins are crucial in leagues as later on all the teams are good. Nothing worse than burning trades to make the finals.

Not much to say here, looks good. Have to be careful with Grundy, as good as he is, he is more for Dream Team. In his final JLT match he had 1 hitout to advantage to Nankervis' 9.

I still think Pendles is a lock, hasn't averaged below 116 since Gillard took over as government (7 years).

Thoughts on my team much appreciated going different this year and put shaun higgins in as north have no midfield and surely he will get some game time through there hope he doesn't get injured 1490074396444.png 1490074409329.png

I am happy to do some trades in first few rounds to make corrections and get on the breakout players.

That's why I like $$$ in bank so you can make just about any trade.

You do need to get lucky with early wins for it to pay-off, but last year I had 8 trades for finals even after having $1M in bank early.

I've stopped looking at other teams now .......too many look the same and have a "group think" look about them

Still looking at peoples thoughts on individual players .....but time for us to make our own judgement calls & gut feel

This is where i sit at the moment with $11k in the bank. Rookies just holding position til teams come out, though the ones I've currently got I'd be happy with.

Have concerns that I may need to find extra cash for a Florent/Turner type if selection doesn't go my way, but will deal with that.

Anyone notice any significant flaws in the team? 2 x midpricers in the forward line has me going a bit cold on Steele...

That makes so much sense, considering Gawn will be rucking with spencer, hickey with longer, Martin with Archie, the only one I'm game on is grundy but I don't know if he will be that good this year or not, if I take a risk with sandi, witts and nank I am guaranteed to have 2 rucks every week including byes, think about that then come back with something intelligent

Easy there brother. Was just having a light jest!

I actually was considering that myself. Perhaps I like a shop at Vinnies :D

That forward structure looks the best i've seen & what i'm wrestling with versus having 4 premo's and two $117K - $123K Rookies ??

The only area i'm still undecided on

Is Group Think still a rookie? Can't find him, he's certainly not a ruckman.
Marchbank is a classic example ......no-one had him, then within a week he was D4 in every side

Swallow was in every side, now he's in none .....

Looks good man. I'm not too keen on Wines, should try and get a better player there like Cripps or Mitchell, but that's just a personal preference.
Thanks mate. I'm a little sceptical on Cripps solely on the fact he's missed so much time over the pre season. But I'll definitely look at Mitchell

It happens every year.

And I tend to just ignore most teams on here, and rarely make too many suggestions, but just enjoy the general discussion.

People keep on suggesting the same players - eg. someone picks Sidebottom, someone suggests "for a little more get Treloar".
That's why you end up with all the same teams.

I get you man. Just having fun. Marchbank suits my team and I don't trust a lot of back rooks, esp Stewart T ATM

He's a rock solid pick bro.

watched every game of the preaseason and he is clearly a good choice at his price. Plenty of intercept marks and good disposal of the ball for SC.

thats just more group think.

...i bet you have Dangerfield and SPP too
Maybe...... maybe not.....
