Alright you blokes. This is how I'm looking with 351k left over and not sure where to spend it.

Defenders: These blokes have the ability to rack up a lot of ball. Adams and Lloyd could become Shaw and Rance. Hampton is locked but I'm not convinced over the other rookies.

Mids: Dangerfield is a must, Pendles and Selwood are proven guns, Neale and Parker just accumulate and score well. Beams is good value and I'll keep him as long as he stays fit. SPP is a lock and hopefully Florent plays enough early ones.

Rucks: Not keen on Gawn at 645k and will target later on in the season. Goldy has the track record of good scores and I'm keen on Stef to start with.

Forwards: Dahlhaus and Macrae are also in the accumulator category with little variation in scores. Might not go as high as JJK after he kicks 8, but they won't give you many low, stinker scores. Steele is a midpriced risk and could become Riewoldt, but his JLT was pretty good and could churn out some decent numbers with his tackling rate. Turner and Eddy seem to be in favour, whilst the other 3 rookies could easily change pending team selection.

I wouldn't be relying on Eddy and especially Butler for on field scores in the forward line, fix those up first.

They're just placeholders at the moment until teams come out, but could swing Pickett down there

Wouldn't be relying on Pickett on field either. Go Butler up to Taranto or WHE.

I'd go with WHE in that case, should have better JS especially with De Goey out for a bit

HERE IT IS LADS!! My final team (hopefully) barring rooks being named. What do people think??

DEF: Doch, Shaw, Laird, Hampton, Hibberd, Otten (Stewart, Vickers Mills)

MID: Danger, Pendles, Treloar, JPK, Fyfe, Beams, Taranto, Powell Pepper (Baratt, Parfitt, Atley)

RUCK: Stef Martin, Sandi (Strandica)

FWD: Roo, Dahl, Greene, Ryder, Pickett, Houston (Butler, Eddy)

Pretty happy with this setup. Would appreciate any final feedback/analysis on the picks.

So my side may have officially jumped the shark. Were in Nankilands!
Allows me to upgrade Billings and Mills to Riewoldt and Docherty.

Docherty, Shaw, Laird ---- Stewart
Marchbank, Otten, Hampton----- Ed VW

Danger, Trealore------ Florent
Bont, Fyfe, Kelly------- Pickett
Beams, SPP, Barrett---- Atley

Hoping this is the one.
Cash in bank will be used to bring in an expensive rookie or 2 once teams are announced

If I need more more for the high price rookies, I will:
  • move Ryder forward in place of Roughy; Sandi in at R2 = gives me an extra $60k
  • swap Rance for JJ or Vince = gives me an extra $20k or $35k respectively

If Spencer is named, Gawn is getting the flick and I'll go with either of the following ruck combos:
  • Ryder, Sandi (Strnadica) / Nankervis forward
  • Ryder, Nankervis (Strnadica)
+ any remaining cash will be used to upgrade O'Meara to Ward or Titch if possible

thats just more group think.

...i bet you have Dangerfield and SPP too
Yeah, that's my point ......he probably has 22 players in his side, just like everyone else ......just group think :p

He's a rock solid pick bro.

watched every game of the preaseason and he is clearly a good choice at his price. Plenty of intercept marks and good disposal of the ball for SC.
People talk about players who are injury prone ......does everyone know that Marchbank has always been very highly rated, but his body has consistently let him down at GWS ........now he's rock solid & an expensive Rookie ????

No guarantees he plays this week. The announcements today leave just two rookies on their rookie list. Which they can easily then upgrade with LTIs.

A lot of love for Toby the last month. Picked on the basis of 11 games at top level, having a Steve Talbot apprenticeship, and a couple of preseason games against other rucks that dont giveashit ? Hit rate for an 11 game ruck isnt too flash, and looks horribly priced to me rather than well priced.
Never been one for cheap rucks. I do hope he kills it though, and he isnt 1-2 more seasons off being a decent scoring option as i suspect.

Interesting as a Collingwood supporter, you didn't pick Pendles ? .......reasons?

Simply wanted more money in the bank, as I feel I'll need to get a few high price rookies
He is a gun and will pump out another 115-120 average no doubt

View attachment 348103 This is mine at the moment, but I could make 10 more changes in the next two days..

I like your structure actually! Only starting 1 rookie in defence could be a masterstroke. Personally, I am starting 2 atm but that is starting to appear somewhat risky. I think everyone who was starting a 3/0/5 back line has had to rethink given the shaky job security of many of the popular options.

I like your midfield, an extra premium would be nice but i think you're capitalising on the substantial value available with Beams/JOM/Swallow as well as Taranto and SPP. Your rucks are risky but having Nankervis in your forward line mitigates that risk. As for your forwards i personally have jumped off the Wingard bandwagon but he could well improve substantially with extra midfield minutes, if Hinkley keeps him there! I like the combo of Dahl, Macrae and Greene too.

Finally, I think McCarthy is a poor choice (i like WHE) but apart from that your rookies are spot on. So yeah, good team, not many unique players but a pretty unique structure so i hope it works for you!
