The 2011 Summer Transfer Rumors - part 2

Same posters. Same obsessions.

Do you two dream about Manchester City?

This is a transfer thread, is it wrong to discuss such things?

What a crybaby. Even more so than cesc fabregas.

Shame on them for trying to get the most money for their players.

They bought him for 10m, he's flopped, he's asking for a transfer and City don't even need him. Bayern are bidding 15m and yet, City are still demanding 20m.

Totally unreasonable.

City want 17m according to the article you posted. They have every right to hold out for what they deem the players value to be. In the end a compromise will probably be reached anyway. I can't understand what the problem is.

Then why do you think Bayern's Chief Executive is pissed?

It's like if say, Sunderland were trying to make a swoop for a hack like Darron Gibson, but United were holding out for a ridiculous price of say, £2. It's just unethical.

Boateng has already expressed his desire to move, he's performed poorly at City and yet, Bayern are still willing to pay a hefty 15m, 5m more than what City originally bought him for.

The only way to respond to you its to laugh, you're unbelievable

Oh wow, aren't you being quite productive?

Do you even have an opinion on the Boateng saga? Do you even realize this is a transfer thread? What a ****ing knob.

Because he has to pay more than he wants for Boateng.

Boateng signed the contract with Man City. No one forced him to and City have every right to hold him to that contract unless they receive an offer that they deem to be acceptable.

Of course they have the right, never said they didn't. It's just unreasonable, considering the circumstances.

Honestly don't see how you can raise a player's asking price by 7m after they've flopped. It's just greedy.

hey guys, i dont post here often. But being a huge soccer fan id say i check the forum a few times a week to see whats going on.
Now also keep in mind ive been a city fan for a long time so take from this what you will.
Boateng signed a contract with city, so really we can sell him for whatever we want to. Even though he has been a ‘‘bust” (can someone be a bust after only one season?) I think we would see him as a very handy player to keep around.
With the limited squad sizes this coming season i think its more important than ever for players to be versatile and able to play a number of positions. Boateng can slot in pretty easilly anywhere in the back four if needed so why would we let someone like that go if we didnt have to.

Boateng is a 21/22 year old German international.

If Bayern Munich had offered to pay £15m I suspect he would be sold, or pretty close to it.

As far as I'm aware they value him at £8m, which IMO is not close to enough to sell.

He's contracted and we're more than happy to keep him at the club.

And according to that article the dumb ****er doesn't even understand the fair play rules he reckons will catch us out.

There is nothing in the rules about squad size, you can have as many as you like so long as they fit in financially.

Boateng will be a member of our 25 man squad if he stays.

That's unethical. ;)

Modric is crying to leave, just because Chelsea put in an embarrassing 22m bid. It's no surprise Spurs fans have lost all respect for him.

He claims that he had an agreement with the Chairman, that if an agreement was reached that would favour both clubs, he would be sold... does selling to Chelsea for such a despicable price favour us?... nah

If the guy wants to go your better off selling him rather then having him sulk all year like Torres did for us last season

IIRC, Torres asked to leave around the end of January.

Nevertheless, selling a player as good as Modric for 22m is completely ridiculous under any circumstance, especially to a rival.

In the worst case for us (arguably), he'll rot in the reserves, but at least that sends a message to all our other players who think they can get out by whinging.

Leaving a player as good as Modric to rot on the bench/in the reserves is completely ridiculous as well.

Who said he's going to be sold for 22m? It was an OFFER, that was promptly rejected by Spurs. If Modric is serious about coming to Chelsea, then most likely we will come back with a higher offer.... we did pay 50m for Torres after all:eek:.

Torres didn't publicly ask for a transfer, but you could tell his heart wasn't in the club a long time before January.

I never said sell for 22, get the best price you can for him and use the funds to strengthen the squad like what we did (just don't spend most of it on a player not worth that amount ).

It's not completely ridiculous at all. Wasteful, certainly, but as I said, it sends a message to all our players that if you're going to cry, you don't get to play.

Also, do you even realize why such a ridiculous offer was put forward in the first place? It was a disgusting bid to unsettle him and it worked. Regardless of whether you'll come back with a better bid, all spurs supporters have every right to be pissed with Modric, as he's throwing a big tantrum just because we rejected that embarrassing offer.

That's fair enough. I can see where Spurs fans would be upset with the way Luka is reacting and you have the right to be annoyed because he is one of your best players. I just think (I'm obviously biased) that Spurs and Modric alike would benefit more from a fair priced transfer due to the current state of events because Modric is not going to benefit from sitting on the pine, and Spurs are not going to benefit from keeping a player that doesn't want to be there, whether that desire to leave was instigated by Chelsea or not. Just my opinion.:)

There should be buyout clauses in every contract, it would avoid a lot of this mess.

Levy is saying they won't sell. Fullstop, no negotiation, no matter the bid placed.

Load of bollocks of course, but it leaves Modric with no option than to stir the pot if he does want a move. Perhaps if Levy came out and said that Spurs would sell for £35m then there would at least be a little room for negotiation.

Out of interest, when is Modric entitled to move on the Webster ruling. If he's only on £50k a week (2.5m or so a year), he can be a free agent as soon as he is eligible for much less than it would cost to buy him from Spurs.

We're in a similar boat with Tevez, although it would cost him a lot more to buy himself out of his contract, and we can afford to let him rot in the stiffs for the rest of his contract. For all their bluster I don't think Spurs could. We've also shown a willingness to sell if the price is right, I think Spurs have got to do the same with Modric.

If that were the case, you would have just put in a reasonable offer in the first place. The fact that you're trying to unsettle him clearly illustrates you're trying to milk his price down and get him as cheap as possible.

Luckily for us, we have Daniel Levy running the show. He's not going to be bent over that easily.

It's Modric's own fault then. If you're negotiating a contract but want to leave for a bigger club in the future, put a release clause in it, not some ****ing stupid gentlemens agreement.

and even with that agreement in place, why is Modric getting all upset because we rejected ****ing 22m? If I recall, he said if the club receives a concrete offer that benefits both parties, we'd consider it... Does selling our best player to a rival club for such a price benefit us? Absolutely not.

I think we'll sell him eventually, as it would be out of character for us to just let him rot in the reserves and have his value plummet, but I doubt he'll go to Chelsea, or any other english club for that matter.

Nope leave him rot in the reserves and fine the little **** every time he speaks negatively to the papers. And if we do sell next year sell him abroad. Sick of these teams tapping up everyone.

Levy was fine to do it to Berbatov but got convinced by Ramos to sell him. He won't change his mind this time. And if Modric wants a gentlemans agreement perhaps he could have the decency to do any of the following

* Tell the club first of your desire
* Put in a transfer request
* Not slag off the club to the media.
